Prerunner project: F.O.R.D.

damn i didnt realize how long its been since i last worked on teh old ranger! haha but anyhow, i got the tranny finally in it, put the wiring harness in but not completely hooked up, pulled the old gas tank and lines and started makin a list of all the small stuff. No pics this time but next time for sure.

next on the list if to maybe try to finish the wiring, plate the frame under the cab  that wont be fun, and get the rear end all done (includes trussin the 8.8, regearing it, and puttin the suspension all on).

By the way, anyone ever made some solid engine and trans mount for the 4.0 and M50D? if not ill be ordering the Autofab stuff

haha! sucess! I finally got all the rear suspension on the truck. had to go spend 90 bucks on brage 8 hardware and two hours runnin around on saturday to find someone that had 20 1/2' x 1 1/2" bolts, 40 1/2" washers, 20 1/2" lock washers, and 20 1/2" nuts plus 6 9/16" x 5" bolts, nuts and 12 washers. Lucky for my, our last stop was at the Lowes right across the street from my house and they had it all! That made things nice lol. But anyhow, i put the rear suspension all together in 5 hours! That included puttin the new hangers, springs, shackles and shackel hangers. Ill have pics of the whole process tonight.

I wanted to plate the rest of the frame but i want to wait till i get the front suspension all done so i can keep an area open where the bolts come through if i bolt it (gotta talk to Dave about what way he would do it :D)

very nice but you should have come out to country thunder on sat. the titties and beer camp was up and going strong, more beer than titties but there was enough titty for me to get in trouble. thank god I didn't have to work today cause I'm still recoverying.

haha i would have loved too but i wanted to finish some stuff on the ranger and sunday my buddy was racing his RZR out at fort Macdowel for testing before Primm and i went with him to help work on anything and bring tools

FYI, if you have a tractor supply or farm surplus store around you, you can buy grade 8 stuff by the LB....saves some $$

BTW, build looks great!

wow I wish, I havn't seen a TS since I moved from Colo. there aint to many farm surplus stores that I have found around here. it kinda disapointing.

yeah x2^. Az does not have one. the closet thing is Copperstate Bolts but they were only open till 12 and it was passed that

Got pics!

here is the difference between the stock hangers and Giants

Took all the rivets out. acutally was very easy to do.

Shackle and shackle hanger on (drilled out all the holes so they accept 1/2" hardware)

Springs on!

Rearend together

The spring plates giant sends, super trick to keep rocks from bending the U-bolts

Little flex, has alot more left but needs full race weight to do so :D

Overall the job was super easy. I just cut the heads of the rivets off with a cut-off wheel and hit the old parts off with a 10lbs sledge, then punded the rivets back though with the sledge :icon_welder:

:annoyed:

i dont quite like dealing with copperstate
i think there a bit overpriced and ther costomer sevse sucks

looks way good man!

thanks guys. i agree on copperstate but they were the only ones i could think of that day. Never though lowes would have all that stuff :D.

Also, ill be wire wheeling the whole frame to remove all the rust and paint. Or if my buddy can do it, ill take it to his shop and have him media blast the frame as best he can without removing the cab, motor, and trans then just wire wheel the rest. I HATE THAT DAMN RUST lol

Those GIANT products look bilt!

I guess after bein around bikes so long I cant help but notice the Blaster #2's. I ran #1 cuts on my KFX900

oh haha the sand car tires in the back ground. i was thinkin at first you thought the yellow bike was a blaster lol. Yeah those seem to hook super well on the car but still give enough to not grenade trannys :D

On a car??? Those are only 26". Good lord. They hooked up perfectly on my bike but I dont see them doing much on a car. Give Sand Tires Unlimited a call and try the 16.50 Dune Sport. Wide and Flat and about 30"s tall. Hafta use 15" wide wheels tho

wait which tires are you talkin about? the tires on the wall or the one tire on the ground that you see under the frame?
