Has anyone experienced the Pioneer Priemer series of speakers, subs, amps, or headunits?

I was looking through my crutchfield magazine today and noticed them; and since my Infinity speakers are getting to the annoying point, I am tempted to start putting a small system in.

i had a set of cheapo pioneer subs and there ok for a beginner. i like pioneer for there expensive stuff. there cheap stuff is well, cheap.

there headunits get good after 150.00 but any cheaper and it sucks.

in my new car, im doing a pioneer stereo, pioneer premier components in the front, pioneer premier 6x9's in the rear. and visonic woofers and amp. subs will be 2 12's and being fed 200 watts rms each.

its cheap but itll work for me.

The premier line is actually being discontinued as of next year. Its the same stuff as pioneer with double the warranty period, and some minor cosmetic differences.

I just ordered a Pioneer Premier 800prs like this one:

i cant wait to try it out, its got all the tuning and sq options you could ever want:
Copper chassis, 5v pre outs, fully active adjustable x-over points, instead of front/rear/sub you can switch it to High/Mids/Lows (pro mode). 24bit Burr brown DAC,Auto EQ and time alignment etc...
I can give you a review once i get it but i had a very hard time choosing between the Alpine 9887,pioneer 800prs or Eclipse 7200mkii but after reading dozens of reviews and comparisons i think i made the right choice.

Well, that sucks. I don't know if I want to bother with them then.

I went through the online stuff and here is what I was looking at more specifically:

Subs (leaning towards the W1008D2):

Speakers (thinking the 6"x8", but I don't what my system to be over-powered by low frequencies):

Headunit (I already have a decent Pioneer in, but this one was more for a down the road piece):

i just picked up a used pioneer premier 860. has 6.5v preouts, auto ta/eg, 24bit dac, etc. just plugging it in with no tuning, it sounds better than my pioneer 3900. i would say go with their higher end premeir gear.

AGREE'D pioneers cheap stuff is crap. back in the late 90's early 2000's there cheaper line was actually decent entry level gear. just like sont before there xplod line. but that was before young kids wanted the name for little to no money.

so they build cheaper crap for low price with there name on it for companies like walmart to sell to young ricers who want 1000 watts of bass on stock speakers.

bottom line, you get what you pay for. you want a good sounding system. start at the stereo and work your way back. and save up to get the good stuff the first time. and if your happy with it. LEAVE IT ALONE. youll never be satisfied with upgrades so if it sounds good. leave it.

anyway, enough rambling, go with the premier stuff. and you will be good to go.:icon_thumby:

there is actually nothing wrong with my lower end pioneer 3900. was definitly an upgrade over the stock deck. for a basic system where your just gonna slap in some replacement speakers, a basic deck like my 3900 would fit the bill. think of your deck like a processor in a computer. essentially thats all it is.

the head unit I have is a Rockford Fosgate, it's just like the Pioneer but it's a little older, still is one of the best sounding one's I've heard compared to most of the newer stuff

So whats this going in? I hope your not taking out your double din eclipse unit for this. That would be odd.

i think those decks were made by denon or denford. dont remember exactly which one.

the sound quality of the 800prs will probably blow away his eclipse deck. its one of the top 3 decks under $500. anything that can even come close is over $1000.

not knocking that. but he has an eclipse double din dvd navigation stereo well over 1,000 bucks. so it would just seem odd to pull that out for a regular pioneer unit.

and by regular, i mean not have dvd, navigation, or anything.

but seriously that is one of pioneers nicest decks.
