Premier?

I installed a Pioneer Premier AVIC-F90BT in my wife's car in the Spring. Other than some software design flaws, it's been a great unit. Does a great job of integrating phone, nav, and entertainment. Has all the connections out of the box to control an iPod, but I don't own one to try it. With the v3.0 firmware it's improved quite a bit.

So were the headunits I was looking at no good then?

Also, what do you think about the sub choice?

I can't hardly beleive that a Pioneer would be as good as or better that the Eclipse. I had an Eclpise head unit in my Trans Am. At the time that I bought it, it was top of the line, and Pioneer's top of the line was crap compared to my Eclipse, but that's been a few years ago. My Eclipse finally bit the dust and I replaced it with a Kenwood KDC-MP642U. Not top of the line, but a good head unit none the less.

So whats this going in? I hope your not taking out your double din eclipse unit for this. That would be odd.

yup the eclipse is officially sold, all packaged up ready to ship. I used to watch a lot of dvds with my old job i spent hours in my truck so it was nice, but now there just isnt a point to having one.

Eclipse is nice but they have really gone downhill lately in build quality. the 7200mkii is nice but it just feels cheap and flimsy compared to older eclipses like the 8000's series.

yes it is, but i didnt wanna drop 1000 bucks on one, and japans tuning frequencies are different than ours so the radio wont work right.

on ebay, theres a guy in korea selling the korea version. he says it has the same frequencies as the usa. its $1200. if you signed up for the ebay bucks program you can get 2% back later. then add in the bing.com rebate, it will be closer to $1000. honestly, id just wait and see how it goes with pioneer dropping the premier line. alot of people are hoping that pioneer will debut a us version of the dex-p99rs at ces.

the premier 510 would be a good choice. i dont think you can go wrong with that. the sub you were leaning towards, id bet youd be happy with the output. i would look around elsewhere. im sure you can find it much cheaper.

Japan has a different frequency then the rest of the world, they tune in .2's every else is .1. Korean would work but carrozzeria i thought was strictly japan (i thought) so i assumed you meant the japanese model.

i just picked up a used pioneer premier 860. has 6.5v preouts, auto ta/eg, 24bit dac, etc. just plugging it in with no tuning, it sounds better than my pioneer 3900. i would say go with their higher end premeir gear.

i have the non premier version of that head unit in my jeep and its great. adjustable xovers and slopes, auto TA and eq, it sounds great even on stock infinity gold components. never had the mic for it to use auto ta and eq but now i can use the 800prs's mic and set it all up.
