1987 2.9 erratic idle and drivability issues

ive cracked open all my ecms, even the one in the truck, they are all immaculate
Unfourtantly though that dont always mean they are ok

yeah, definitely seems an egr injector issue.

the egr causes an intermittent vacuum leak, is it a non egr or egr truck?

Assuming its the original engine and hasnt been dicked with 87 would be egr

Truck still has egr for now, but the issue turned out to be the injectors and timing being a lil off, I replaced those and it runs great now and doesnt buck or misfire, I can actually accelerate with the ac on, but now I have another issue that just started a bit ago, after driving across town the idle just sat at 2k rpms for about a minute, then within 5 secs it dropped down to 500 then immediately back to 2k unplug IAC and it dies, ill try to harass th ecm with a code reader after work..

Its still got egr, I haven't put a newer ecm in it to get rid of it, but engine has only been opened up by me

I would try an later ecm before i went any further with it.

Have you checked for power at the vacuum solenoid?

sounds like a vacuum leak or something....maybe one of the injector o rings was pinched or rolled and let loose.

No vacuum leaks, I disconnected the IAC and it died and ive smoke tested it,

Vacuum solenoid is getting power, but my drivability issue decided to return and make it backfire a bunch right infront of a cop... im going to pull the non egr ecm i have out of my other ranger and try it for shits and giggles because this thing hasnt given me any codes for me to go off of to atleast point me in a direction of what may be wrong
