first off, 2.3 5 speed 2wd open diff. 3.73 235-75-15

hey was wondering what the differences are? on-road and off-road? winter and summer driving? (very concerned about winter driving!) any help would be appreciated very very much!!!

by the way if i go Powertrax going to run the no slip not the lock rite.(hard to find one for the 7.5 open diff!!)

if i go limited slip I'm going Ford Racing M-4204-C75 (but have to do more research on it, with the installation and such)

my concerns

Powertrax(no-slip)-price,availability!, daily driver, WINTER

Ford Racing M-4204-C75-installation, traction off road, WINTER! haha

again thanks for any help, i love this site a lot of quality people on here!!!

Where did you find the no-slip for the 7.5?

The locker will be less behaved on the street, clunking and clicking, and you'll be able to do some wicked donuts in the winter.

The L/S will be quieter and more well behaved, but if you somehow get one tire in the air, she'll be about useless. If this is mainly a street vehicle that doesn't do much 4x4'ing (im guessing as it's a 4x2 ;missingteeth;) I suggest the L/S

The No-slip wins hands down. It will be more predictable in slick conditions. And the No-Slip is pretty street friendly. I just helped my friend replace the LS in his 8.8 with a No-slip and he likes it infinitly better.

I've had the No-Slip in my 4x4 Winter driver for 4-5 years and love it. No experence at all with the the Ford L/S. The No-Slip might cost more initallialy but you can do it in your driveway in two hours with common hand tools.

yea that is a big problem with the no slip, cant seem to find it anywhere! i saw some on ebay but i dont trust them with such an expensive part.

Well most of the people selling them are in the business, not just someone dumping something on the cheap. You do always have to be careful but I've always had good luck with a business vs a person.

Just looked around, if Summit still carrys them, I'd jump on it. Jegs and a lot of other places don't have it for the 7.5" anymore. I did find a 4x4 place that has the 8.8 for $410, I know that's not what you want or need but someone else was asking about it's price.

More predictable yep meaning it will go side ways very easy on rain slick and snowy roads especially when turning.

Better than sitting there spinning one wheel going no where :thefinger:
Anyone with half a brain can drive a locked rig in the snow just fine, the oversteer is usually an advantage. In the snow a fresh LS will be about the same as a locker, in the rain it will be much easier to make 1 tire spin with an LS.

I see you might just be talking about your truck with the 5.0 in it. I remember you doing the complete Explorer AWD swap in, how you like it overall. Big difference in his 2.3 in power. Even a good gripping tire makes a big difference in the wet/snow. I'm still voting for the No-Slip.

I believe the lockers are more predictable than an LSD. IN the snow, you KNOW both tires are spinning around a corner and are expecting to correct any sliding/oversteer. But with an LSD, you can start spinning one wheel through the turn but differences in the pavement (ice spot, slush build up...) will cause a difference in traction mid-way. The LSD now has enough grip to spin both tires and you are not expecting it... whoops, into traffic I go!!!

:D:D:D
But I've had lockers before and have drove them in snow they do side step very easy. I'm trying a Torsen right now so far I like it in my truck and mach1 mustang

Makes a freaking truck out of it now .
It's been in there for 25,000 miles I'm using the BW1354 that came in the truck when it had 4.0 in. I don't have low in the T-case but that easy fix just got to ground that wire. Do I really need low :icon_rofl:
