An LSD is just about worthless for extreme offroading. They can be tempermental in snow and ice. LSDs are for sports cars and mild offroad trucks.
A Lockrite is an economical choice that will provide 100% lockup during extreme offroading situations. It is also very predicable in snow and ice. The downfall is that it can be very annoying on the road, especially with a manual. For example, pulling out into traffic often results in skipping and chirping tires as the driveline is under load and the back end locks when you're taking the turn.
Noslips are exactly like the Lockrite, but they differentiate more smoothly. They cost a bit more.
Detroit lockers are harder to install as they replace the entire carrier and you need to set the backlash up. Good differentiation, stronger than a Lockrite or No-slip, a bit more pricey.
Selectable lockers are the most expensive (and best) option. 100% lockup when you need it, otherwise act just like on open diff when you disengage it. Very strong. Also need to set up backlash.
