PowerTrax NO SLIP for 7.5 Application

The PowerTrax NO SLIP is going to be available for the 7.5 axle.

The part number is 92-0675-2805.

I've been researching this for days/weeks...

I just got off the phone with MidWest Truck and Auto (The wholesaler who recently acquired Richmond Gears, who makes the Powertrax)

The sales rep said this particular application is not yet "on there shelves" but should be coming from the manufacture in a few weeks...and will be pushed out to the distributors.

This is going to be my solution for a No Slip Slip "plug-and-play" solution for a 99 Ranger with a 7.5 axle. I need a daily driver/some off road application, and the Lock Right was just going to be overkill.

Rather new to this...so if this info is a duplication of info somewhere else...sorry...

For several weeks, I could not find anyone who could source the No Slip product for the 7.5 axle...so this is good new for me, and maybe others...

PowerTrax does not make a LSD to my knowledge, and there certainly isn't any drop-in LSD like a lunchbox locker. I think you're thinking of the No-Slip locker. I have one in my Dakota, I took it out and removed the synchro rings so it acts like a Lock-Right and it's much better to drive IMO.

This would be the first I have ever heard of a drop in limited slip....unless it is a full carrier type (which is possible I guess).

I think he's saying it's coming.

Richard
I think he means the No-Slip is coming for the 7.5 ;)

EDIT: The part number is a No-Slip. Differential nomencalture confusion strikes again.

What didn't you like about it as a No-Slip?

Been thinkin' about getting one for my '150...

I think he has had problems with it :icon_confused:

I have always held mine near and dear to my heart. Has always worked just as advertised for me. I like it ten times better than the full carrier Detroit my dad has in he CJ-5, and the Lock-Rite I had in the front D35 of my Mazda.

yes...No Slip is what I meant ...got too keyboard happy there...

The synchro ring system prevents the it from locking until the wheels are turning at equal speed, in theory this makes it smoother, in practice, I've found it to be the opposite.

So you go around a sharp corner, get on the gas a bit, since only one side is engaged and you drive a pickup with a light ass-end, the inside tire (which is engaged) easily spins with almost no effort, then if you want it to lock so you can actually go, you have to give it even more gas until it speeds up even more to match the outside tire, then BAM it locks. Not smooth and it eats tires faster than if it was just locked around a corner and were scrubbing the tires. Sure if you absolutely baby it everywhere it'll be fine, but I like to use more than 2% throttle around a corner. I removed the synchro rings so it acts like a normal locker now, I go around a corner and I give it some gas, the inside tires spins just a touch then it locks and I'm on my way.

There was nothing wrong with my No-Slip's function, it worked as advertised and as described by Powertrax themselves. My buddy (forum member Grunizzle) had one in his Ranger, it did same thing and he hated it, when he swapped to a 31 spline 8.8 he bought a Detroit Locker for it and likes it much better.

There are plenty of happy No-Slip owners, Grunizzle and I were not among them and be we both took steps to remedy the situation.

It doesn't matter what you get, you'll get used to it.
