Power steering

I ran into a problem with my power steering where it started leaking at the gearbox bottom seal, so I fixed that, then it started leaking in the o ring on the pressure hose. I thought I fixed it but then I look in the reservoir and empty. Anyways, I found the leak in between the reservoir and where it separates, so I found the reservoir online I’m just wondering how to pull it off, is it just pull of the pressure hose and the bottom hose and it’ll pull right off, or is there another way it comes off?

You have to also remove the fitting and flow control valve where the pressure hose was removed. Once that is off the tank should just come off.

Be sure to lube the new housing with petroleum jelly.

Where do I put the petroleum jelly? On the side or in side where the lip is

I would use it on the seal itself and the portion of the tank that needs to slide over the o-ring. You don't need a lot... just enough to ensure the seal doesn't roll out and the tank slides into place.

I didn't know you could do that without first removing the AC compressor?

Those reservoirs can be difficult to get to seal on the power steering pumps. You might end up having to get a rebuilt one with the reservoir already on it from the store to conquere the leak..

The pump being metal, if I had a problem getting halves together, I would put the metal part in a refrigerator or freezer. Leave it for 6 hours or so, then trying mating them together. I would avoid heating the plastic at all and if I did I would not go beyond 100 degrees. To press bearings into a big CC Husqvarna chainsaw, you put the bearings into the freezer and the metal case halves in the oven at 400F or there around. I have a set of bearing on ice as I post.
