I am in need of some new tires for my 83 Ranger. It is all stock 2wd 4cyl. I do not like the small stock 14in skinny wheels and would like something a little bigger. I found a set of police car wheels at a local yard for $150 with good tires. They are 16in. They look like the ones on this car. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5295/5477433212_aff65342d0.jpg
Has anyone fit these to a Ranger? If so, did they fit without mods? Any pictures? Any info would be great, thanks.

It's still better than the time my wife's cousin called me to ask if the wheels from her Town Car would fit her Grand Marquis. The TC didn't run and the GM's tires were shot. She didn't have money to get them mounted and balanced.

What did tell her?? :D

I laughed until she got upset and then explained that under the different emblems they were the same car.

Either Crown Vic or Charger rims will fit, don't know about Impala or Caprice (I doubt it)

Perfect answer!

Crown Vic, yes to the bolt pattern, who knows to the backspacing & offset. (To OP) Try searching you might find an answer. Charger, depends on the years. New Chargers no, old Chargers same as deal as Crown Vic.

As for the Impala or Caprice wheels, everybody knows Chevy parts are a bolt on upgrade for a Ford.

Nah, GM is too attached to that 5x5.5 pattern.

The caprice, depending on the year, came with 5x4.75 or 5x5. 5x5.5 is Ford truck (and some other brands that dont matter.)

i run dodge cop car wheels. they suck the tire in pretty good. same as vic.

on a 4x4 some of the wheels wont fit over the lockouts....cant remember yearsfor that though.

The new facelifted ones that look more like a Charger?

Back when I was trying to find cheap 17's they hadn't come out yet. :icon_twisted:

By old Charger I refer to the 60s and 70s Chargers. By new Charger I am referring to the 06+ Chargers. I just found out that there was a Charger in the 80s, but it was a sub compact FWD car and I wouldn't consider it a real Charger (even if its a Shelby version).
