PlumCrazy's Build

how did you get your ABS off what did you do to remove it? ant pics would be great! thanks

Was the tranny crossmember hard to make fit that high up?

You mean while holding the trans with my feet and treading bolts in the bell housing with my hands....yes. I normally pull the trans with cross member on because gravity helps.lol I take it off when I am putting the trans back in.

I removed the ABS pump, then ran the lines like a non ABS truck with the split for the front lines on the drivers side hose. Then I traced all the wires from the ABS pump and removed/depined them, then I removed the ABS module from the core support and removed all the wires going to it and the wheel speed sensors. I have not removed the unnecessary wires on the interior yet, but next time the dash is out I will.

Temp gauge is in

I was going to put a "T" in where the stock sensor was, but I figured it would be more accurate and look cleaner to drill and tap the intake. I was able to catch all the debris with a wet towel and a shop vac.

I used a 3/8" 8 point socket and a long extension to turn the tap so I could get the handle up above the intake.

gauges turned out real purdy....yep--put the D&T holes where you need em!!!

I finally got around to building my much needed traction bar.

I was originally going to mount it to the axle like MetalMacguyver did, but I didnt want 90% of my welds to be on the center section of the diff.

So I made an axle truss to mount the upper link to, then made a bracket to attach the lower link to the diff via the mounting holes for the vibration damper/shock used on the Exploder axle.

I welded in the tubes while I was screwing around under there too.

I also braced the truss by adding a gusset between it and the diff cover. The gusset is welded to the cover, but bolted the truss with grade 8 bolts so the cover can still be removed.lol

I will be using 3/4" Rodends for the ends, and a small shackle in tension for the frame mount. Put my order in at RuffStuff today, and I plan on picking up some DOM tubing soon for the actual bar.

Locker ordered. I bought a Lock Right for an open diff, so I need to pick up an open carrier. I couldn't justify spending an extra 200 bucks for a locker just so I could keep my L/S case.

u will be really pleased with the lock-rite. mine has been installed for bout a year know and does excellent.

Picked these up last night.

They are from a 94 Exploder, so the EGR tube comes out of the front of the manifold where as mine comes out of the back. So I picked up an aluminum intake from an Exploder with the EGR mounted directly to it. I picked up the tube and all the brackets for mounting the EGR stuff.

Why is it for sale man?

I had few people at school tell me it wasnt worth half of what I have in it. So I listed it to see what people would offer me for it.lol Needless to say I could break even as long I as I consider all of my time and labor to be worth $0.lol

I have no intentions of selling it. Unless it takes a turn for the worst over night and I strip it completely and build up another truck.lol

I cleaned up the headers and painted them with some 2000 Degree Black Ceramic paint. I also picked up all the gaskets and what not for them,

I also picked up new bearings, sealant, oil and loctite for the locker install. Hopefully I can get stuff done this week.

I dont want to dive into anything in depth since I am selling my other car and I will have to drive the truck and cant risk not having it together for the drive to work the next morning.

I am looking for a Exploder or 2wd Ranger to DD. I love the mpg of my High mileage, Low maintenance beater Honda, but I want a bed or atleast be able put my toolbox in the back without it squatting.lol

That is the boat i was in. I had the Focus as a DD but it was not functional for me. So i sold it for a 2wd Ranger. Must better for me

I was on my way to look at an 89 2wd today, but I got nailed for having 20% window tint on my side windows. So the money I got for my car is going toward a fine. The cop told me I need to lighten up the windows or he will get me again for tint and bumper height. I passed him on the freeway doing the speed limit and he pulled out and got me for tint out of all things. I have had my my fair share of speeding tickets, and Ill admit I deserved them, but I call bullshit.lol

Pics of the headers.

I still have to get a set of manifold studs and weld a new bung in the Y-pipe for the wideband.
