PlumCrazy's Build

Your headers are packed and will be dropped at UPS tomorrow. I took so long that shipping is on the house this time.lol

I'll give you a tracking number as soon as I have one.

Not much progress on the turd lately. Working stupid hours and I picked up this bundle of joy, so poor Ranger has been on the back burner for a while.

I did pickup my block, pistons, and crank from the machine shop....so when I get some down time....I can put the short block together and swap my heads over.

ARP rod bolts are in, big ends of rods resized, wrist pins pressed through the new slugs, block cleaned and honed, crank polished and ready to rock. Shop told me the cam bearings still looked new, so he didn't touch them. Should just be a matter of bolting everything together and checking clearances.

His name is Nico (Knee-Coe) and yes he is a pure bred Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog)...he is only 8 months old and is already a smart little stinker.

Assembled the bottom end!

Everything was at the high end of the "ideal" clearances, but well within allowable.

Dingo did his best to help

I picked up a fancy single bore size compressor for 100mm bore, but standard 4.0 bore is 100.4...so I just chucked it up in the lathe and took hair off with some emery cloth.

I was going to ahead and put the timing cover on, and oil pan, and maybe even prime the pump.... But I found that I have misplaced all the timing cover bolts and the pan bolts I bought will be fine for the lower steel pan, but too short for the thicker aluminum flange.

According to UPS tracking, everything should be on the porch when I home Sunday night.

I bit the bullet and ordered brand spanking new 98TM heads and paid to have the bowls worked over, and semi-aggressive amount porting/polishing done on the exhaust side. No ETA on the heads.

Glad to hear you are making progress. I wish I had time for another project. A friend of mine has a bronco 2 for sale that has almost 0 rust and would look great with your old D44 under it.

I stopped by my buddy's place....his B2 shell is in the scrap pile...makes me want a B2 to play with. Like DD with a D30 under it

Heard back about the heads this afternoon. Looks like two weeks minimum. Takes a week for castings to show up, and a week at least for machine work.

Picked up these little fellas for pounding pavement around town. 39.5x15-15 TrXus STS on 15x15 wheels. They are big and half bald, but they were cheap and on 5x5.5 rims...lol

I sold the Auburn Ected, so I am going back to a lunchbox locker in this axle until I find a deal on an OX selectable.

I want to get the motor together and in, then button up the track bar mounts and then I will start on the 8.8....then back to the front to address hydro steer and OX shifter placement....then....I can wheel!

Awesome! Good score!
