Please help.

I got a light tester and a volt/ohm tester I just need to know what to test. I have to get this truck running again as its my only way to work. Thanks.

Ah, OK, sorry, I forgot you tested something already with that..but the ECU is the Engine Control Unit (brain, as you said) or PCM (power control module) and it essentially controls the injectors and timing of the engine...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_control_unit

I really don't know what ADSM08 was referring to but I would think that if the injectors have two wires you would have connected the tester to one of them. With the key on the light should work meaning you have power to the injectors...when you crank it I would imagine the light should flash rapidly but dimly...so the test would be to connect the tester to the injector and crank the engine to see what happens with the light.

If it goes off while cranking that would probably indicate an issue with the ecu...and it may need to be replaced...but post up what you find from that and we can proceed from there.

Power to the injectors but not firing could indicate a low fuel pressure situation...and you can also test fuel pressure...if you have a fuel pressure regulator (FPR) on the fuel rail there should be a vacuum line attached to it...if you pull that line off and it smells like gas (it shouldn't) then your FPR is the problem...you will not get enough fuel pressure to run the engine...

Ok I will test to see if the injectors are working while the motor cranks. Ill also check the regulator to see if I smell gas. I also looked around google and found info on a obd test. my concern is i have had the battery in and out of the truck. will that give incorrect codes because the the truck wount run to give a code? Please correct me if I'm wroung but with the battery unhooked for any amount of time will clear the codes?

Howdy every one. I just checked the volts to the sending unit 10 volts. I also did a obd1 code test by counting the blinks of the check engine light, this didnt do much as I'm still confussed on what blinks go with each other. I took a vid if anyone could help me there only problem with the vid is I would have to send it to someone's email as it wount upload here. My dad is going to crank the engine when I test if the injectors are working while its turning over as mark said to check. I will keep everyone posted.

I got the truck running again. Thanks again for everyone for trying to help me.

Pin holes in the sending unit I had gas just not enough. My 6 year old daughter could hear the gas staying out in the tank.
