Hi guys, I have a 95 Ranger that is having windshield wiper issues. They sometimes work but are not trustworthy. I live in WA state so it may be 85 today but it may rain tomorrow. I replaced the switch and wiper motor but it is still acting like bowtie electronics! Is there a fuseable link, fuse, or wiper delay module? Do I need to chase down all the wires to find a short? I HATE ELECTRONICS! Please help

I'm assuming that you're only talking about the wiper system - not the washer fluid. There is a fuse that you asked about (#16 in the fuse box) so that may be a good place to start. If it's an intermittent problem, I would check for a bad connection, the fuse is probably still good. There is also a control timer module for the system located somewhere in the system that you may want to check (I'm still looking for a specific location; I'll let you know if I can find one). I would check for a short before trying to replace this though. You should, however, check for a loose connection there as well though. Good luck. Post back if this works; if not, I'll keep looking. -Rangurr

The delay function is controlled by the GEM, there is no separate delay module. There are also 2 relays in the under hood fuse box. One is a Hi-Lo relay and the other is a Park/Run relay. GEMS rarlely go bad, I'm leaning towards a bad relay or a connection problem.

I recently lost my headlights and farted around with the dash pull switch, finally replacing it to no avail. Took the column trim off and remembered I had a similar problem years ago...the switch connector came out a millionth of an inch and all I had to do was squeeze it back in place...and the lights worked.

Sooooo...it does sound like a connection problem in your case because the wipers do work...sporadically...and since you've gone ahead and replaced two of them most obvious parts...it's got to be a loose connection.

Older Rangers do have a module under the dash that actually controls the wipers...especially the intermittent function...but it sounds like they did away with that with the newer models.

make sure your GEM is plugged in its behind the radio on the left side if your dinger aint working someone may have unplugged the GEM

I want to thank all of you for your advise. I am still trying to chase down a loose connection and also checking out the relays in the fuse box underhood. I'll post back as soon as I can

Problem resolved! Thank you everybody, It turned out being the $13 relay under the hood. A good lesson in Keep It Simple Stupid.

Thanks for the update...good to know they have a relay on that for future reference...

But you could have resolved this an easier way...only drive when it isn't raining...:)
