Plastic tailgate handle broke, metal replacement?

I'd like to replace my broken plastic tailgate handle on my 2000 Ranger (stepside bed), can I use the metal handle on LMC? They list both the plastic and metal handles at $14.95...and I'd rather have the black painted metal over the black crappy plastic.

my mom's 03 had the plastic one.
my bro's 00 had the metal one, so its weird that your 00 has a plastic one, anyway the metal one from 93-00 will fit fine. i replaced the broken one on the 03 with a 93-00 metal one and works fine.

yea get a metal one from ebay. thats what i did. im very happy with it

LMC charges 15 for theirs. That is where I got mine.

I got the black metal one from LMC, installed it last night. It works great. It is physically a little smaller for the handle portion so it does look different. I'm ok with it though, it is a MUCH stronger piece than the plastic that it replaced.

Starting in 1998 I think is when they switched to the crappy plastic one.
