Planning a 2.0 to 2.9 swap in my 1984 2wd, auto trans

Got some leads for 302’s and pursuing them this week... but i came across this thing:
https://newyork.craigslist.org/stn/pts/d/staten-island-mustang-23-4-cyl-motor/7123735441.html

It’s a 30 min drive from my place. I‘m still trying to wrap my head around it and I know nothing about turbo but isn’t It kind a possibility to swap to 2,3 and possibly put a turbo on it? Wouldn’t the 2.3 almost literally bolt right in? It looks exactly like my engine except for where the oil filler cap is.

my truck also... doesn’t really have an exhaust pipe Or AC at the moment so it would be a HUGE upgrade, and maybe a little practice swapping stuff in..

Still calling Gary but..

I've been through exactly the same thing. My '87 was a carbed 2.0. Put $1800 into a pretty nice 2.3. More powerful than the 2.0 or any stock 2.3 I've had but still not enough. Did a 302 swap for under $500 and much more power and more specifically torque. Motor mounts, oil filter relocation kit, swap meet tri-Y headers, 1-wire alternator. Stock driveshaft, trans crossmember, used 2.9 radiator, even reused the stock Duraspark box on the fender. Granted I already had the motor and trans but a 5.0 and C4 can be had cheap. My truck is a straight drive and I don't have power steering to mess with.
