first off, truck specs.
06 FX4 Level II
8.8 torsen rear diff.
Alright, so a while back, couple months ago my pinion bearing had gone bad. had it replaced as well as al lthe other seals/bearings in the rear end.
it has started whistling again. first time it was due to a u joint that was bad that i failed to replace on time. so i ate the cost of replacement parts/labour.
however this time, ujoint is fine. im guessing the shop did something wrong, or overtightened something. no idea. however they are trying to blame it on my exhaust. i have MBRP turndown, with the tip pointed at a 45* angle towards the passenger side of the truck. not pointing at the diff, but its not far from it. is this a legit concern? i do a lot of highway miles.
i think their just trying to BS me personally, as that exhaust has been on since july 2012 and it hadnt caused any diff problems at all. but maybe with the new parts in, it did? no idea.
just looking for any pointers, tips, etc. regarding why it would be bad again after only 5,000 miles. when the first 40,000 miles i had the truck exactly how it is now it was fine.
is this a common problem?
