Pics of my project

Ts.. I like the tail gate panel on the bed.. I mounted mine on the inside back wall under my back glass. Keep working.

looks good. Get one of THESE and put it on a drill to get vinyl decals off, also can be used for double sided tape, clear vinyl protectors, etc, etc, etc. Won't damage your paint (not that it matters in this case), just be really really really careful when using it on plastic.

this may sound like a stuiped question, by why didn't you take the new floor and put it in the other bed that you had done cut the floor up to start with sence you had the body work on it done already ???

and by the by, nice work.

Robert

Hey Robert, sorry I missed this post somehow. I was just reading back a few pages. The answer is, the original bed was damaged on the passenger side wheel well pretty badly. The body shop wasn't sure if they could repair it or if it needed to be replaced.

Well since this truck isn't exactly stock, I thought they might have trouble replacing the bedside. So I went and found another bed.

I need to figure out the rear shocks, since I have none. This is how I was thinking about mounting them. Tabs welded to the lower bars, but I'm not sure how I should mount the upper. If anybody has an idea, let me know!

make a u shape bracket but square, with a capture nut behind it, so you take a bolt and screw it in and you would have a double shear.

i'm not really a fan of lowered trucks, but all this work you've done looks great. i like what you did with the tailgate

Well I think I got the shocks figured out. Now I'm trying to decide what to do about the fuel filler. The cell will sit under the bed floor. I'm not sure if I should try to make a trap door to access the fuel cap or just cut a circle out of the floor and flush mount the cap.

Any ideas? I've seen pics in the past but never saved them. Now I wish I had.

I'd flush mount it, but that just me, trap doors are good when you have a wooden bed, and want to hide it.

I cut up the pieces of notch that I cut off to make these. I still have to do the driver side. I'm also going to sand blast em real quick and coat em in chassis saver.

Heres the lift bars painted and put back together. The shocks don't limit the suspension travel.

I needed to make the mounts so there was a little bit of adjustability as I will be cutting a round hole in the bed floor to flush mount the fuel cap. So I started with two four inch pieces of square tube. I notched the tops, cut some strips of steel, drilled and welded a nut to the strips. Then I cut a slot in another piece and welded it over the square. It traps the nut and allows for maybe an inch of lateral movement so I can adjust the location of the fuel cell to make certain the filler will be centered. That is, of course, if the hole I'll cut isn't perfectly located. Lol

For a cop, you sure know your way around a welder!! :icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

Awesome stuff!!

You guys get an early melt also? We've been at 50+ degrees for 2 weeks now and not a sign of snow anywhere.

I gotta get mine fixed and "upgraded" soon.......................
