Pics of my project

very clean build nice and respectable i can only hope i do as well on mine as you did on yours looks great

Thanks man, I'm sure yours will be just as good if not better!

I almost have one side smooth. I hate all the sanding! The corners are the worst.

I made a dolly for moving the bed around since it's become such a long project..

Made some bracing for the front of the bed floor

And finally, the bed floor itself is getting smooth. I really really want to be done with this bodywork crap and move on to the engine again.

I see in the backround that you started taking off the factory stripes on the doors. We had to use a heat gun and patience to peel that crud off, or it gums up the sander.

Everything looks fantastic!! Bodywork is always the worst, but it leads up to the meat of the operation; the motor!!

Yeah I used a heat gun and fingernail. Takes forever but I'm most likely going to leave the rest of the body work to the shop. I need to finish the bed and get everything remounted under it. Start the engine and seat the rings. I'm also going to pull the carpet and door panels, and whatever other interior trim panels that are in the way. And then get it to the body shop!!

I have another project to start on and I want to have it running/driving this summer.

Small update. I finally got back out into the garage after being sick for a week. I started work on the tailgate. I found some little washers that filled the holes pretty well. I welded them in and welded the centers up.

You are doing some great work man looks killer

Thanks guys! So much damn work but I couldn't find a tailgate without the alum piece. I actually have three of these tailgates. Lol. Well had, since I cut one up.

wow it doesn't mean much coming from me but this is some of the best work i've ever seen. This is the kind of stuff you would see some guys on TV doing, high quality work. Keep it up!

Very nice build, After im done with the lift on mine my older brother is going to buy mine from me in a few months and ill be buying another second gen reg cab short bed, and hoping mine will turn out half as nice as yours. Very nice work!

So I removed the old box. I cut out the crossmembers from the notches and cut two inches out of the notches.

It's just a test fit but it fits. I still have to make the mounts that the bed will sit on. In this pic it's sitting on the notches. You can see it's sagging to the rear. I'll have about a quarter inch of clearance between the notches and the underside of the bed floor.
