Pics of my project

Well, I learned that when you raise the bed floor it is very important to make sure you have a tailgate in place and all the gaps are good and lined up. I didn't do that and ended up spending a week getting the driver bed side corrected.

I tried to just crank the box side over with wratchet strap but it didn't correct anything because it was just pulling the bed floor over. So I made a gusset and welded the bed floor to the pass side of the box. This held the floor in place.

Then I hooked the strap between the top of the dr bed side to the bottom of the pass side. The gap was only excessive at the top of the dr side. I cranked it straight and welded in the gusset on the dr side. Problem solved. Now the pics....

I cut down some 16ga to make the filler for the rear of the bed.

Oh, and it doesn't end there. I'm going to add a little "wow" factor to it that I copied from a friend who originally did it. Pics to follow...

Oh baby!!! :icon_surprised::icon_surprised::icon_surprised:

Now that's tight!!! :icon_thumby::icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

Will it be seen only when you open the tailgate or are you going to box in the gap from where the emblem used to be?

I cut that out of a scrap tailgate. It will only be seen when the tailgate is down. I have to remove that alum piece on the gate I decided to use and weld the holes up.

Hmm...wonder how that would look with the hole boxed into the gate...

Don't make a hole in the tail gate.

Looks good!

Hmmmmmmm........ You could try that on that scrap tailgate of yours. Since you have a hole there from the FORD lettering, go all the way and see how you like it.

If that boxed portion had LED lighting in the tunnel, that would be something else!!

This is as far as I got sandblasting the bed. My electric motor on the compressor took a crap from all the nonstop work. I want to start applying filler to smooth out all the dings.

That's what bedliners are for! Hiding dings, dents and scratches! Lol, glad to see your doing it the right way and not cutting any corners. Helluva build! Keep it up! :icon_thumby:

I had bedliner in the other bed. This one won't be hauling but maybe a cooler and some car show chairs.

Oh, the compressor was fine. The belt was slipping and made it sound like the compressor pump was starting hard.

I've been mudding and sanding all day. I'll get some pics up when it's worthy.

man i love your build im gettin ready to start this proccess on 2 vehicles a 91 ranger and my newest 93 150 you have answered so many of my questions how much total lift did you end up getting with the lift bars in the back

this may sound like a stuiped question, by why didn't you take the new floor and put it in the other bed that you had done cut the floor up to start with sence you had the body work on it done already ???

and by the by, nice work.
