Found it on Craigslist, went to see it and fell in love.

Its a '96 4cyl 5spd, got it for $2300. Needs some stuff like brakes, gonna need tires soon, motor mounts are shot, and the muffler rattles and is annoyingly loud and for some reason someone removed the cats and welded in a section of heavy gage steel pipe, weird.... But there is and aftermarket tube header on it for what ever good it dose.

Anyways its my first 5spd truck and I love it! its fun rowin through the gears, I still miss my Edge tho

2300 and its gonna need all that work? Seems way to high to me. Its illegal to drive without cats too. Nice lookin truck tho but I think that price was to high for all the problems mentioned

114,000

The law says no but we don't have inspections in Florida, and after i do the brakes I plan on fixing the exhaust anyways, I hate the way a 4 cylinder sounds and its driving me nuts.

After looking around $2300 didnt seem that bad

I'm just gonna throw a set of used tiers on the back, I get 10% off at Napa thro school so my pads should be cheap and I can machine the rotors for free, I get the same 10% discount on the motor mounts and I'll do the exhaust with a cat and stock muffler at school since we have a tube bender, mig welder etc

I'd have to agree that $2300 seems a bit high for the work involved, but then again I'm cheap,my current ranger cost $100 and I had to do the brakes and some body work,my vehicle before that was a '93 grand am that I paid $50 for drove for 5 months and sold for $100

almost makes ya wish u had all the parts from the old truck to put into it....

It looks really nice. The cats however will be a little pricey to replace.Good luck with the new ride.:3gears:

I dont suppose the previous owner still has the cats laying around? Cause those will cost you at least $400 new. I know for a fact that as of last week, each cat was worth $65. Thats at least $130 if you try to buy them at a junkyard they will probably charge you more.

Does that have an AAL in the back there? It has alot of rake. Looks nice though. Very clean.

Here is a direct fit replacement cat for $246.09...not too bad of a price...

Motor mounts for $15.82...

A good muffler is $50. The brakes can probably be done for less than $100.

Of course, all that is doing it yourself, but none of it is really hard to do. It's all pretty simple stuff. Maybe when all is said and done it will be a $3000 truck. That is still not bad for a clean Ranger with 114,000 miles.

HERE is a direct fit converter for $173.

Personally, I'd get an aftermarket hi-flow universal for less than $100.

Just get the inlet/outlet/overall length dimensions you need and google it.

HERE is a page full of universal fit <$100 catalytic converters.

Nice find! :icon_thumby:

Whats an AAL? Its looks more raked it the pics then it really is, but its nothing some spacers under the coils wont fix.

I did the brakes today in school, with new pads and rotors, 2 grease seals, 1 new drum and a set of shoes it came out to $150 thro Car Quest.

As far as the cat, The auto body class next the the shop has an mid '90s t bird all tore apart and its just sitting and they probably give me a cat off it, and the junk yard right by me has a few late '90s ranger that were wrecked so I might pull a muffler off one of them.

Go down to an autoparts store and buy a universal for $50, problem solved.
