Picked up a cherry 89 BII XLT 2wd

welcome to the forums and i am totally jeolous of your b2 dude.......incredible find....

Really glad to see that you're enjoying the BII. That is one sharp-looking example. Sorry that I didn't post back to your question a while ago- by "nimble" I meant that you'd notice a big difference in the turning radius of the BII compared to the Crown Vic that you were used. Anytime we're going to town, especially when we'll be parking a lot, I take the BII over the Super Cab Ranger just because of it turning so much tighter. Take Care.

yes!!!! I made the good choice of driving this one the day I decided to do my Xmas shopping (the sunday before) and you couldnt be more correct. She makes super tight turns into parking spaces, and is very easy to maneuver around the huge SUV's that were idling in the parking lanes waiting for people to pull out.
I carried a transmission back home in her for the 91... much easier to load than into the trunk of one of the land barges... lol.

Even installing the radio was super easy... and the stock speakers are suprizingly impressive.

Thanks to all for convincing me to keep her... I hope I can hang on to her for a good while and keep her in good hands.

me again - long time no post. I stopped by to make a classified post so Id figure id stop in this thread too...!

This little cream puff is still purring along very well... been thinking more about that 4x4 upgrade... money is still an issue though.

I had to replace the fuel pump recently - it started to get sticky on me (a few kicks to the tank would get the pump running again) and I must say these must be the easiest tank to drop in the world. You have to have long arms and nimble fingers to disconnect the lines and wiring before you drop it, but actually getting the tank down and back up was a breeze. I did it with a floor jack in my driveway, didnt even have the raise up the truck!

A few other new things since I last posted - I found a good armrest and roll-out cargo cover for it in the junkyard, so its even more complete now.
Im going to make a classified post too, but Im also looking for a set of the chrome wheel center caps. So far on eBay Ive only seen singles or aftermarket junk.
Also thinking about a set of Navajo or B3000 wheels for it... mostly just thinking due to lack of funds...

Anyways, Im glad you guys are here, you are a great resouce. I especially like the 3rd brake light install page someone put up... I have one of thoe LED CHMSL's in my 85 crown vic and a few in the basement... time for one for the BII!!
We try to keep a simmilar knowledge base up at the forum for my primary passions, boxy crown vics, grand marquis' at www.grandmarq.net.

See you guys again next time I have news!

Pete

Well, I've sold her. It had been a great truck, but someone tracked me down looking for a cherry 2wd BII... and he wanted to give me 1800 for it...
I do miss it, but Ive got my eyes open for a Ranger to scoop up...

In other news I bought a '88 police crown Victoria... bought for 250... got about 200 in it making it roadworthy, seems like a solid car so far... check it out here if you like!

Pete
