Just picked up a cherry 89 XLT

I've had all brands ford/chevy/dodge and have ZERO brand loyalty. I think you guys would kill me if I put a LS into a ranger

Always liked the rangers but don't care for the SBF. LSX is a much better engine. It's too bad ford modular v8s are so wide.

Now my wheeler is a 79 Jeep J20, AMC 360, 203/205, manual valve body TH400, 60/HO72, 4.56s and 42" pitbulls

:wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

another here on the jeep.

as to the lsx.......IT IS MY FIRST CHOICE AND RECOMMENDATION FOR A RANGER V8 SWAP THESE DAYS.

finding cheap low mile 302's is not what it used to be. when you compare power economy and ease of install and upgrades the lsx is by far the best choice there is.:dunno:

not even debatable if emissions is a concern and your truck is newer then 01..

the jeep needs a big block though....or a stroker 351 windsor and built aod... its what i would do anyway...

Nice looking Ranger (except the wheels:bad:) Nice wheeler too. Welcome to TRS.

I've got a T-76 front mount turbo kit I've gotta use on something....It looks like you can use stock truck manifolds for the ranger swap so that may be a possibility. Don't want a turbo on a wheeler.

I was thinking LQ4/LQ9 6.0 in the Jeep but I want to get it running/driving first before I go adding another year or 2 to the completion date. Would love to mate it to a NV4500 w/ the dual cases but someday...

Back to the ranger -

Installed some OEM tails a buddy of mine gave me and dropped off the factory 14s to be refinished and painted an audi grey. Ebay'd a set of replacement nut covers too so it should be looking sharp!

Finally ditched those lame ass wheels.. The stockers all dressed up with chrome centers is much much better.

Stripped all the window tint and popped a stock radio in, been cruising it back and forth to work pulling 23mpg!

The dual 2" cherry bombs are freakin rowdy above 3200rpm. Found it has pacesetters and a decently fabricated dual exhaust system. Needs an x or h pipe and o2 bung welded in to be 100%

I'll snap some pics tomorrow minus the glare I had in the others

That is a very clean truck. Nice find for the price. I like it. I do agree the rims aren't the best choice for that truck. Not too fond of the interior color either. Put the emblem in the opposite corner, it'll look better.

Took the emblem off completely...

Couple new shots with the fresh wheels and caps

Also looked in the glovebox and found the original window sticker, a clean owners manual and lots of cool little dealer option things from 1989. Kinda like a time capsule. I'm sure the build sheet is under the seat as well. Build date is 01/89 which I thought was kinda odd
