A couple years ago when I worked at a Ford Dealership we had a guy with a totally stock 88-89ish BII xlt come in wanting 31x10.50R15 BFG AT's put on. We told him they wouldn't fit but he insisted saying he'd get a little lift if they rubbed. So I installed them and I'll be danged if they didn't fit perfect. I tried a few little things in the lot to get it to rub but I could always slide my hand between the tire and the body. He even came back to have em rotated and said they hadn't ever rubbed which is kinda surprising? Maybe no offroad?? I took a picture then but im not sure where I put it? If I find it I'll try to post it.

I also had 30x9.50R15 BFG AT's on 15x8 wheels on my stock 2006 2wd ranger I used to have and they never rubbed. If I can figure out how to post pics I'll put a few up. Its the one up as my avatar thingy.

I'm considering putting some 245/75-16 FX4 tire/wheel combo on my stock 2006 2wd 4.0 auto w/3.55 gears but am worried I won't be happy with the gearing. What engine/tranny/gears are in your truck, and how happy are you with the performance/gas mileage? have you had the speedo recalibrated?

It had the 2.3L 4 cylinder, 5 speed, with stock 4.10 gears, it originally had 225/75R15 tires on it. It didn't noticeably lose much power. I live in the mountians of NC so i was shifting to 4th on hills already:annoyed: Mileage was at 32 before and dropped to a steady 26 after. I didn't recalibrate it but if I remember it wasn't off by too much. Aren't 245's around 28" in diameter?(i hate that metric bullcrap:temper:) My moms got an 04' xcab 4x4 with those size tires and your drivetrain and its got plenty of go and pulls out like 18mpg i think? Good luck and hope it works for you:icon_thumby:

Using a tire size calculator changing from my stock 225/70-15's to the 245/75-16's will significantly change the speedo - it will be 6.7mph slow and also affect the odometer so any mpg calculations will be screwed up. Your mom's 4x4 probably has better gearing than my 3.55's. Some FX4 rims w/good tires came up for sale in my area and I don't know if it's worth the hassle to go that route. My truck is VERY peppy with the stock tire size.

yeah i was thinking 5-6 off. Good point about the odometer though. In theoretical terms I filled up every five days instead of six driving back and forth to work. Her 04 has 3.55s but I only drove it for a bit so I don't really remember the exact mileage but thats close. I bet your truck will go:headbang:lol. I almost bought hers from her cause it would and yours is lighter! If it was my truck and I liked/needed the wheels and tires enough I'd get em. Just keep in mind that it'll lose some power and some mileage and 55 will be the new 62:icon_thumby: if you don't like the size go back down when they wear out. Good luck with your decision and if you get em post up a pic!

Oh and by those size tires I meant it has 245/75R16's

Im running 98 3.0 stock suspension was gunna do a 2" T-bar crank and put my 31x10.5r15's on. i know it will fit, but i wanted to see a pic sighting down a similiar truck with the same size tires. i was wondering how far out they stick out...from under the fender.lots of pplz with same mods, but no clarity in the tires width to truck wheel-well ratio. hope someone can show me THNKS!!

1995 Ranger Super Cab.
BFG All Terrain KO 33x12.50-15's on 15x8's with 3.75 backspacing.

Front has SJ 6 inch TTB brackets and unknown brand coils with homemade extended radius arms that tie into the tranny cross member I made.

Rear is lifted using stock Chevy 1500 64" leaves and 2 inch Chevy drop shackles.

No fender trimming, the front tires rub the radius arms a tiny bit at full lock, but not bad at all

I will get some better side and rear pictures later
