Hi guys, my name is Chris DeMorro and I'm a freelance writer and diehard Ford enthusiast. I write about all kinds of different vehicles, and I'm very well rounded in my vehicular tastes; I'm as enthusiastic about muscle cars as I am about electric vehicles. I also love trucks, and while I was at the Detroit Auto Show Ford showed the press its new global Ranger.

It's got one of two diesel engines, up to 346 ft-lbs of torque, and the smaller diesel engine can get up to 650 miles on a 21 gallon tank. That works out to 30 mpg in an economical small(er) truck.

And Ford isn't bringing it to America, which I quite frankly think is bullshit. I've talked to some people at Ford, and they said to even consider it, the response would have to be "staggering."

Now I don't have to tell you that Ford plans to axe the Ranger and make the F-150 an entry-level truck. But if you're like me, you don't need a full-size truck, and 23 mpg just don't cut it. However, Ford is listening these days now more than it ever has, and I think if there is a chance, however slim, that we can get Ford to bring this diesel Ranger to America, well hell I just want to try.

I started a petition to bring the diesel Ranger to America at one of the websites I write for, Gas 2.0. It's an alternative fuel website, but lest you think I'm just some hippy plugging his work, I also write for powerTV, which focuses mostly on muscle cars. Like I said, I like all kinds of vehicles, and I would buy one of these diesel Rangers in a heartbeat.

But I need your guys help, and I'm going to other Ford truck forums with the same message. So if you're down, help me spread the word, and just leave a comment on the post so I can show Ford that they are making a big mistake by not bringing this truck to America.

I'd be all for it, but I doubt that even with a so-called "staggering" response, they may not do it due to the recent and more stringent diesel emissions regs.

i am all for it!!! but dont you think that you need a much more public venue for your petition? dont hide it in some hole in the wall blog, POST IT ON EVERY DAMN DIESEL ENTHUSIEST AND FORD ENTHUSIAST FORUM ON THE INTERNET.

and then send ford a copy of your petition every day, and every month send them a paper version with all the signatures, flood their computer system and their paper mail system...

if you dont do the following things then you are just wasting our time...now where do i sign?:icon_thumby:

Funny how the "diehard Ford enthusiast" drives a 1992 Jeep Wrangler.

what you dont think that they could meet them if they tried?? if the engineers at any auto company cant figure out how to make a 4cyl turbodiesel meet emissions standards then they have the wrong damn job!

Sure, ill sign. I dont nessisarely like the new look as much, but i hate them cutting out the ranger name alltogether here. Good luck :icon_thumby:

I'm on board. If they do bring it to N.America...I'm hoping they don't try and rob people blind with $710/mth payments like they're doing with the new X

wow! my HOUSE payment was 350 a month...ya know, i think people that buy brand new vehicle are the dumbest people in the world, just name me ONE product besides vehicles and electronics that is worth half of what you paid for it an hour after you bought it...and if you had held on to that old junker for a few more years you could have saved thousands on a vehicle purchase...700 a month? after you pay that how can you afford gas for it?:icon_confused:

I would love to see either a Diesel Ranger or a Ranger with that new Ecoboost v6 they are putting in the new F-150s.

Only in your dreams....it will never happen...the Ranger is gone from Fords lineup....no more Ranger here....only abroad.....

While you're at it, why don't you circulate a petition to bring In-N-Out to the midwest?

Get about as much response from the company...

They could but nobody would pay for it.

They are planning on the diesels in fullsizes cutting their own throat and dying out as emissions get tighter and tighter. Eventually there is a point where people will quit paying more and money money for one.

grow your own fuel...out of any green plant.

that is the biggest load of bull since global warming...ever heard of biodiesel? you know, ZERO EMISSIONS...diesel is the future, unfortunatly the world may have to end before everyone realizes it..

rudolph diesel is rolling in his grave at this moment at how his invention is being polluted with petroleum products...

direct injection gasoline has really leveled things. bio diesel isnt really zero emission.

i do like diesel power though. i know ford will put a ranger in the market if it proves out.....it would have to be big though...at 25 k for a decent 4x4 ext cab currently, they have to be out of thier minds to shit can them....fuggin highway robbery.

harshcougar,

why is this not a larger thing??....and it needs to be linked and easy to deal with.:icon_thumby:

i for one thank you for taking the time to get this far, streamlining the process will help imo...

thanks..
