Petition to Bring the Global Diesel Ranger to America

i don't want one because those 'world' rangers are just plain too damn big. i don't care what engine they put in it. keeping my 1st gen for as long as i can.

^this

The new global Ranger is no longer a compact pickup, or at least what we would normally define as a compact. It's too close in size to the F-150 and Ford doesn't want to add vehicles that directly compete with each other. I'm all for keeping the Ranger nameplate around, but to Ford it doesn't make sense to bring the new Ranger over here.

You forgot about cost. Dunno what it is up to now, but a couple years ago the Power Stroke was a $8k option over the V10, which was only a $500 option over the 5.4.

Modern gas engines will easily outlive the body they come in.

IMO the ideal Ranger powertrain linup would be a Ecoboost 4 and the 3.5. Ford is making the 6.2 look pretty stupid getting the same power with twice the milage out of a 3.5EB, a 4banger EB would be hot little engine in a Ranger.

and to all the other economy and emissions people...

it dont matter, havin a powerfull inefficient DIESEL truck, well thats just 'MMERICAN! imagine havin "a dang ol' duely diesel ranger!?"

lol :icon_rofl:

i just want a diesel and 4 full doors in a compact is that to much to ask for?

Like this one?

I was in Thailand last month and this is what my friend drives (her husband has one very similar, just a couple of years older). An Isuzu D-Max Cab4 SLX (that's a mouthful). It's a 2WD, 3.0 diesel, automatic. Very car-like inside, and the back seat is pretty comfortable. I would drive this if it was offered in the U.S. (But left-hand drive, with a heater; in Thailand most vehicles have A/C but no heaters).

Its only too much in North America for some reason :icon_confused: :dunno:.

all that d max ^^ has is an oversized trunk, ill stick to my '87 and throw an old school fully non-electric diesel in there before i buy a "global" ranger, and still have a 6 foot bed :icon_idea: :icon_welder: :icon_cheers:

I just can't see why they would axe the Ranger, every parts start in America uses Rangers for delivery trucks, or every now and then I'll see a Colorado. You just know they're selling big numbers to the fleet market, now, a diesel is going to add a bit to the price, but if it came in a base base model and only added a small amount, I could see parts stores buying them to save money on fuel.

All very great points. They are used very heavily as delivery trucks. I also see a lot of them used as Terminix trucks and such.

This is what I wanted to see:

my message to ford

I know just one message wont do a thing but maybe if everyone follows suit there will be a change

I would like to take the time, to in form you that stopping production, of the ranger, will be a massive mistake. Look at almost every business large, and small that needs a fleet of small pick ups, and u will see 99% of the fleet trucks are rangers. Also i am a member of many ford forums, and everyone i talk to is angered by your lack of foresight. The reason ranger sales have dropped is because you haven't made any real changes in ten years. look at your competitors, they constantly update and improve their small truck design's. If you leave the small truck market open to the likes of Toyota, and Chevy, It will give them enough new business to eventually eat you and put you out of business. Most people start with a small truck than move to the full size offered by the same company. Ford is committing suicide. I will never buy a f150 as i doesn't fit my needs I love the rangers and it is the only truck i want, OH AND IVE SEEN BETTER LOOKING THINGS OUT MY ASS THAN THE GLOBAL RANGER.

Fords reply

Dear Kyle,

My name is Carlo from Ford's Customer Relationship Center. I have read your email regarding the availability of The New Ford Ranger.

Just to let you know, with this changes in our product line-up, Ford Motor Company will continue investing in and further growing our Ford F-Series line-up with new powertrains and improved performance.

For the 2011 model year, the Ford F-150 features four new truck engines and a new six-speed transmission that will deliver best-in-class towing and horsepower. In addition, the entire 2011 Ford F-150 lineup will be at least 20 percent more fuel-efficient than today's Ford F-150 lineup. This is the most extensive power overhaul in Ford F-150's history.

Moreover, we have the 2011 Ford F-150 XLT custom package with the all-new 3.7-liter V6 engine aimed at the entry-level personal use buyer. This new Ford F-150 series will be ideal for Ford Ranger owners interested in a pickup. For Ford Ranger customers interested more in affordable transportation than an entry-level truck, we now either have or soon will offer many new affordable vehicles including the Ford Fiesta, Focus, 7-passenger Grand C-Max and the Ford Transit Connect.

While we are unable to comment on our future product plans, rest assured Ford will continue to offer our customers products that will deliver the kind of utility and capability you've come to expect from Ford.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to let us know how you feel about the conclusion of the Ford Ranger's product line-up.

However, concept vehicles are intended to gauge the public reaction to new vehicle innovations. Based on the reaction that a particular vehicle receives, it may be introduced in some form at a future date.

At this time, there are no immediate plans to include Ford Ranger in the current model line-up. However, your feedback is collected and used in the decision making process for future model years. We have documented your feedback which will be forwarded to the appropriate department.

For more information regarding Ford's line-up of concept vehicles, please visit:

Currently, there are various special incentives and offers available on Ford Motor Company products. I encourage you to visit us at www.fordvehicles.com. Simply, choose the vehicle you may be interested in, enter your zip code, and all current offers will be displayed to you.

Sincerely,
Enrique Carlo
