PCV valve info

I decided to do some maintenance on my '05 2wd Edge. One of the things was to replace the PCV valve with a new one. For the most part I use NAPA as I get a Veteran's discount there.
My first problem was to source a new one as they list 3 different styles for the 3.0. I had to bring in the VIN for the truck.
The second problem was to find the dang thing on my Ranger and then to remove it. I do admit to being a GM guy so it messed with my mind that I had to unplug a sensor from the old one (what is up with that?) and then I had to pull turn it counter clockwise in order to remove.
The metal clamp was installed on the hose so that the tangs were in a position that it made it impossible to remove with any of the tools I have in my toolbox. I used a rotary saw with a small disk to cut through the original Ford part.
I took a couple of pics to show the part and the location where it is located. Follow the chrome pointer/magnetic pick up thingy to see the hole. I would advise bringing some padding to lay over the sharp engine parts .

Any way yes these can be a pain to swap out the first time

And the electrical connection is for a Heater inside the PCV Valve, not a sensor, just FYI
In colder climates the PCV Valve can freeze up from normal condensation in the engine
That's why they wanted the VIN

In my opinion the electric were best, less chance of a coolant leak, lol

Just be happy you don't have a 2002 and up 2.3l Ranger, have to take off driver side wheel and go thru inner fender to get to its PCV Valve

I drive GM cars and Ford trucks

The El Camino was the only GM "truck" worth owning or driving, but GM cars are consistently good

Ford can't make a car, don't know why, they make great trucks, just can't get the "car thing" down, consistently bad

A Ford car is like a GM truck, not worth taking a chance on either

IMO, Dodge is hit and miss on cars and trucks, there are really good ones and really bad ones, not consistent, you have to wait 10 years before buying a model if it holds up OK

Whatever it means, GMC is for people that haven't got it that they are paying more for GMC branded parts than the equivalent Chevy part. Whether the vehicles themselves cost more or not, I can't say but the parts prices have been gripe for years. Thier answer when asked why? "The parts are 'hand picked'". What a load of crap, though I wouldn't be surprised if Lincoln does the same thing for their parts compared to an equivalent Ford part.

good greif, I thought pvc valves were (still) just stuck in a valve cover grommet with a rubber hose at the top. (or on a 2.3 lima, in the middle of a line going to a crankcase breather under the intake)
Yes, GMC is just a overpriced chevy, kind of like mercury was a overrated overpriced ford with some different trim parts. It might of meant a “tougher truck” back in the ‘50’s , but wasn’t everything built pretty tough back then?
