I have a 1993 Ford Ranger that has conked out on me. The pcm has gone bad and I have not been able to find the correct part. I need some help!
This truck is a 4.0 liter manual 5-speed, rear wheel drive or 4 x 2, gas, and the vin search identifies it as a super cab (although I hardly would call two small seats in the back a super cab). We looked on the sticker under the hood and door and we did not find whether it was Federal or California emissions. I suspect it is Federal since the vehicle was constructed in St. Paul MN. Apparently the vehicle is too old to be supported by another data base which would tell me the emissions.
The part number on the PCM is F37F 12A650 TC although I have not seen the part number for myself since the truck has been sitting at the repair shop for over three months. Does this sound correct?
I ordered a part based upon the above part number which was remanufactured been it did not fit. Also, I was told whether it was a super cab did not matter but I think it may.
As a second subject I was told that if I disconnect the mass air sensor the truck would run. I wonder how well it will run?
The truck has been very good to me mechanically over the years, 280,000 miles, so it is such a shame that a piece of electronics has brought it down.
Thanks, a very frustrated Ranger owner.
