hello i have a 89 ford ranger supercab with the 2.9 and 5 speed with the 1350 transfercase but the problem i have is i need a new yoke that bolts onto the front output of the transfercase at autozone ,advance and napa they cant find the part. I got the truck used and it doesnt have the oe driveshaft or transfercase my truck has a cv joint on the end of the front driveshaft that blots to the transfercase i need the yoke that the 4 bolts go into and also u joint numbers all the parts stores say they never herd of a ranger having a double u joint type of cv on the front shaft till in the 90's please help thanks:dunno:

I'm a little confused. First you say you have a transfer case. Then you say the truck doesn't have one?

CV joints weren't used on the front shafts until 98 or so. The STX Highrider and the 1354 cases had a double cardan u-joint setup, which isn't the same as a CV joint.

The regular old 1350 that you claim to have would have a slip yoke front output. It will look like a big hole in the front of the case, but the drive shaft is supposed to slip into it, not bolt on.

Which trans do you have? I have a short front shaft.

ok the truck i have has been lifted and the kid that did the lift put a 1350 transfercase that has the front driveshaft that has the double u joints at the end of it what i need to know is what is the part number of the yoke that is on the end of the end of the driveshaft near transfer case i have a mitsubishi fm146 5 speed trans . the kid said something about an stx or highryder or something. what im wanting to know is a year and make /model to tell the parts stor for the yoke i think the real name is a centering yoke it has a ball on the end of it ur describing the right kind of driveshaft the double u joint i was allways told it was called a cv joint sorry for confusing you adsm08

Ok, I'm with you now.

ok i attached a pic of the joint if it works i need the number of the piece at the bottom with the ball looking thing in the middle

Find a local driveline shop. Most parts stores will not be able to get that. Even Ford will tell you that you can only get it with a drive shaft.

I'll see if I can find a number tomorrow at work though.

ok please do adsm08 i also need a number for the u joints here is a pic of the part i need i broke one ear off of mine .

Did some digging over lunch and here is what I found. They are out there.

Part number is E3tz 4782-A.

Call 304-725-7031. That is a dealer in Charles Town WV, they show one and it is the closest one to you that I could find.

Good luck with the JY... that shaft was only used on the 87-89 STX and only when someone checked the High Ryder option box on the order form.

Mine is from an fm145 and has the slip yoke. It is not what you need.

I've read they are different, but never checked myself.

The part numbers for the centering yoke were different. That makes me think the U-joints are probably not the same, but like Sno, I've never had a pair to set up next to each other.

Go to NAPA's site and look up both joints, if the numbers are different the parts are different.
