OK, so my parking brake doesn't work on my '93 Ranger. Traced it down this weekend, and it turns out the pedal is at fault - pushing the pedal does not engage the sprocket / wheel that actually pulls the cable.
Did some searching here, and found that this is a common problem, and there was a recall issued and a "wedge" was installed to essentially lock the pedal and this wheel together. See this thread : http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55333
Two questions, fi anyone knows :
1. Where would one attain this "wedge", or is there anything else I can do to lock the pedal assembly to the sprocket?
2. The recall says that the pall could "miss' some of the teeth on the sprocket and that's the problem. My sprocket seems to HAVE no teeth in certain spots, and there's obviously been some damage to the metal (it's all shiny), as if the teeth have been sheered off. If I can get a hold of this "wedge", will it still work in this case?
See also http://www.supermotors.net/registry/2742/54322-2 for a diagram of what I'm referring to.
Thanks in advance, all.
