Any clue if a parking brake pedal out of a 1993 explorer sport will fit in my 1989 ranger. My pedal won’t ratchet and hold so just looking at options I have readily available

Welcome to TRS :)

I would GUESS no

1988-1992 would possibly match, design change in 1993

The mechanism is fairly simple but it IS NOT easy to remove. The pedal assembly was stuck engaged on my '90 a while ago but it was rusty (the only thing on that that was rusty...) since everything on that bracket is bare metal for whatever reason... If you took it off and cleaned and lubed everything I bet it will just work without changing, it's pretty simple. The only issue I had is breaking the parking brake switch getting it off...

All of the bolts are awkward to get out, I had like a foot of 1/4" extensions and a U joint with my body contorted into that area to get it out. A hint, that bolt that goes vertical at the far left of the bottom of the dash is involved... I think the bolt heads were 3/8"

I’ll check it out! I appreciate you!

I had to replace the parking brake pedal assembly in my 83, when I restored the interior. I used a replacement from my 85 parts rig. It's a real dog the worst part is getting the cable out of the back, requires disconnecting the cable from the underside of vehical to gain the needed slack. I know it might sound crazy but having the dash out makes it a million times easier. I left the dash in the parts truck and fought for far longer.
