I am in the midst of installing the Painless dual batery kit in my 89 Bronco II and have a question. I need to tie the system into a wire on the truck that is HOT in the RUN and START positions. Does anyone know what wire i can tie into and its location??? I'm hoping to save time by asking the experts on here as oppose to searching around on the truck.

Thanks in advance

Does it also need to be hot when key is off?

No. It needs to be hot in the run/start position. It CAN NOT be hot in the off or accessory position.

You will need to tap into one of the ignition switch wires. I don't remember which one it is, I'd have to look it up in my program, but I think its grey/yellow...

Under the hood on the driver side should be a 10 wire clip...one of those wires is Red/blue stripe...at least on a Ranger of similar vintage...it is a 16 gauge wire...there is also a 14 gauge wire that connects about the same place...it should be black/pink...and it runs into a plastic connector on it's way to the battery...part of the headlight harness wires or in the same area...

So either of those wires will be HOT only in the run/start position?

Thanks for all the help folks. I ended up tying into the blower motor wiring since it was nearest to where I had my wires run. So if anyone has this problem in the future.... the orange/brown wire going into the blower motor has power only in the start/run position.

Cheers
