Hi,

Are there any half way decent tires out there for this price?

350.00 to 400 bucks?

Most everyone seems to be quoting me from 450 to almost 600 bucks for a set of 4... in Michigan...seems kind of excessive, just less than two years ago (I think) we were paying around 350 for a set of 4 installed what happened with these high tire prices?

Seems nuts to be paying 500 bucks for a set of tires for a beat up '97 ranger...

Yes of course. I mean it costs 824.00 for a set of 4 265/75/16 BFGoodrich AT's. Same size in a 15 inch rim(31/10.50/15) is 600.00, so finding a cheap tire of good quality isn't hard. The regular Goodyear wranglers don't seem bad, especially if you don't need a 31 inch tire. Smaller the cheaper.

Gas, economy... I think companies tried to not raise prices, but where nothing has truly gotten better, they had to.

I c what you mean. Tirerack.com cheapest was BFGoodrich Radial TA all season performance, 380.00.
And those aren't really truck tires... That site dint seem to have a lot of different brands.

Well I lucked out....Finally found a set of four new Cooper Cobra Radil GT tires for $375.00 out the door price installed and balanced brand new.

It was like pulling teeth these were from a national tire retailer I called two other of their stores and their cheapest price was around 450 to 500 bucks for this size tire at the two other stores. I spend almost three days looking for tires.

These tire stores can deal if they want to - no one would talk to me over the weekend for any less than around close to 450 - 500 bucks. Some were quoting over 600 bucks on Friday - Saturday.

I think most of the tire stores near where I live were gouging people during the holidays because people are off work and in the stores in droves and want to get snow tires or all season tires, but I got mine this am when everyone was back to work and the store was completely empty, when business is slow these tire dealers will cut price to get a sale.

Are these coopers decent tires? Good for rain and snow?

yeah in the last year or so all tires went up like 5- 20 % in price. I was working at a tire shop at the time and people were complaining about it alot. When I went to get my tires I noticed it. I was goign with 33's until they called up and said it was going to be about 300 dollars more then what they had originally quoted me.

Cooper is an Excellent brand of tires, I have a set of winter studded tires and summer STT MT's from them and they give great traction. I don't ahve any personal experience with the Cobra GT's but I have installed a few sets and they seem pretty decent.

I would LOVE to have studded tires, unfortunately here in Michigan they were banned sometime in the 1970's' I remember when I was a kid they were very popular but the problem was they supposedly tore up the roads.

What's the deal with the huge increase in tire prices anyway? Is it true it's because of higher gas prices or did rubber go way up in price?

I know the tires went up in price in just the last year but as to the reason why i am not sure. But you gotta just deal with I guess.

Yeah In AK its legal to have them but since the roads are completely covered in ice for most of the year they don't really tear up the roads
