Is there a larger oil filter available for the 3.0 that simply screws on?

Neither the FL1A nor the FL300 will fit. I could match up a filter that's a little longer (1/2" longer or so) but what's the point? Only thing to really do is install a remote filter and use a FL1A.

By the way, for those that don't know it....Ford/Motorcraft does make a long version of the FL1A (often refered to as a "2 quart filter"). It is Motorcraft p/n FL299. Or NAPA p/n 1773. They were used on 361/391 and other Ford Industrial engines.

i'm running the fl1A on my 1992 Ranger and its stock

Come up from the bottom and it will fit but it is tight going in

i tried a 1A on my '93 and she wouldnt have none of it.

i can barely get the 400 on there now with the adapter for the oil cooler.

Yup...i see those on Gensets ocassionally. The 460 at work has one on it now.

Honestly, though, on these engines, why bother?
