Overheated engine

Cyl 6 wasnt firing, but it had good comp and leakdown, thats plug looked oily tho. The plug wiht the bad leakdown cyls looked whiteish, but not real bad.
The water was just disapperaring, no leaks anywhere, hoses are pretty good, water pump new ect. It would smoke a little but not enough to smell antifreeze from behind the truck. The oil would get nasty once in a while, and i would change it and it would be good to go.
When it got hot i think most of the water was getting pushed into the oil cause i was on the highway, then it didnt have enough water in the rad so it got hot, and the rest stated puking out the overflow. By then i limped it off the highway to get some water.
After it overheated the oil now gets nasty in 5 minutes,:thefinger: so i changed it twice since it got hot. I tried some stop leak so im letting that crap cure for the weekend. The coil is getting good connections, i checked the connection on that when i was doing compression tests.
I got a new dist cap+ rotor+wires+plugs so ill throw them in there and take it from there. Thanks:beer:

Do you have any leaks while truck is parked? I'd check the heater core if it is leaking out coolant from a drain on the passenger side of the firewall.

I noticed that you said that you added stop leak. In this case, I think you should pop open the cover for the heater core to see it was leaking. And if it was leaking, you could by pass the heater by plugging the hoses till you get a new core.
The 3 Bronco 2's that I have all had cracked heads because of leaking heater cores.
I bet that most of the cause of crack heads is due to leaking cores.
Had 1 Ranger that had a crack head because someone used a wrong radiator top hose. The hose had a small cut from the alternator fan. Which cause it to leak coolant, which then caused the motor to over heat, thus cracking the head.

It runs a little better with the stop leak in it, plus some new wires and plugs. It def idles good now, just has a small miss when its lugging. I ll have to put a new engine in it one of these days, but at least the oil isnt goin into the water anymroe. Ill check behind the heater core to see if it was leaking there at all too.
