I know what you mean Ranger850, my truck just turned 38,000 yesterday. The overhead didn't bother me as much as cutting the drivers seat to make it a bucket seat for the center console. But I wanted something different, just took my time and it looks factory. Love it

The console came out of a 2000 explorer that was an auto. Pulled it myself at LQK yard.

The console in my 94 Ranger sure looks close to that one... I would have assumed it come from a stick Ranger of that era too.

I think it looks fine. The only advantage black would offer is that there will be no staining of the material. But other types of dirt will show more easily. Pretty much six of one half dozen the other.
