From what I understand, the spindle bearing in my front end(both sides) basically wore out and fused with my hub and ripped up my outter axle shaft really bad. Blah, I wish the guy who owned it before me looked after it better.

Anyways, what years am I looking for at the junkyard to pull a axle shaft out of for my ranger. Everything is OK, except for that. I'm sure it's hidden somewheres in the forum or tech library but I'm not to mechanically inclined. Looking this up for my mechanic friend.

'90-'97 Ranger D35 is all the same shafts (also, '91-'94 Explorer).

the "stubs" however are different.

1990-92

and 1993-97

the change was for the differences required for ABS.

IF you have a non-ABS D35 any will fit and function, but the keyway
groove won't clock correctly, it'll be 36 degrees off one way or the other.

Ive got a spare left side shaft assembly if you need it, $40 plus shipping and any fee's

100% crusty rust free too.just slight surface rust.

Keyway groove? (on the stub shaft??)

I never noticed any differences between my '94 D35's shafts and spares I have from a '92... The only "groove" on them is for the c-clip that retains the thrust washer. :icon_confused:

What about Mazda trucks, would any of them have the same? More mazda trucks than rangers in the junkyard, not sure why.

I do have a d35 w/ abs, although the ABS is dead. What exactly is the stub shaft?

the area that is NOT blocked out is your outter stub shaft.

yes, some mazda's had the dana 35 as well, the b4000's just make sure it has I-beams under it.

watch out for 3.0 and 2.3 trucks, as they could have a dana 28/dana 35 hybryd.and they used funky shafts.

more about that in the libary.
