"Welcome to TRS. Feel free to look around as much as you want. We won't force you to register just so we can build up our member totals to impress people. No, we don't list the number of users in the last 24 hours because we don't want to look at 800++ names at the bottom of our f***ing screen all day long."

What the hell is with these sites out there nowadays that want to force you to register or list the fact that 200 people visited their site in the last 24-hours? That's just damn annoying. Nobody cares about that crap.

Man, I looked at our stats. During the week we have well over 800 users visiting the site each day. Imagine how annoying that would be if we listed them. I guess there must be people out there that are looking for forums that has 'memberxxx' using it so they can hang out there to be just like him/her.

I miss the days when most sites were privately owned by enthusiasts that just wanted to hang out and help other enthusiats.

BTW, I had a media company trying to buy TRS. I turned them down. They would have contracted with me to keep running the site, but it would have been like selling one of my children. I'm tired of sites being bought by companies, people building sites as some form of 'investment', and I miss the days when sites were privately owned by enthusiasts that actually gave a crap instead of companies looking to make a buck.

Only a quality guy would turn down an offer like that. Appreciate the effort you put into the site Jim :icon_thumby:

Those "other" sites are the ones I try to avoid because they end up being pretty limited and definitely nowhere near as quality as I'd prefer. Seems like they try to suck you in with pretty numbers and "Look how many people were here today!"....then once they got you in, you find its pretty much a POS, but they got what they wanted.... another number to put on the wall.

this site is the best ive been on for forums for anything lol. keep it goin jim this is my home page and im on here everyday. i guess u can say im a TRS addict haha

dude, I hear you. if you want a good example of corporate bullcrap running a site into the ground, go to www.dodgeintrepid.net. it used to be like TRS, run and owned by enthusiasts, then the owner sold out to someone who was interested in it, and it is now an ad revenue generator. you have to sign up and log in just to view stuff, and when it was bought out, the shat all over the loyal members so much that they went off and made their own intrepid forums (www.lhforums.net) I myself got banned (yes banned!) for mentioning that firefox and adblock plus removes the ads. (that interfered with their subscription to remove the ads apparently) and then they went and edited my post about it saying that I "admitted I was wrong"...

end rant...

AJ

PS, thanks for staying with us.

im on a sofware-all the crap u want forum, u can look for 30 mins or so, if u dont log in u cant keep looking. thats really annoying imo.

Thanks again for keeping this great site as it is, like Will once said: its like the small bar everyone likes to hag in, with the usual cool guys.

True that.

like Will once said: its like the small bar everyone likes to hag in, with the usual cool guys.

:headbang:

Thanks for keeping TRS enthusiast based Jim, you know my opinion on the matter. Whenever I'm on here I am actually glad this is the forum I chose because it's is exactly like the proverbial bar & grill everyone like to hang out at and BS.

the dakota-durango forum has adds after every other post and you have to scroll FOREVER to read an entire thread. i appreciate the effort you put into this site Jim. I also like to see the owner of the site to be an active member on the site not just a mod.

thank you, sir

I'm always here, but sometimes I don't post a lot.

this has become my fav site on the web.... thanks a million :icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

for what it's worth,i was on quite a few sites before i took a five year break from the net.

now, this is the only site i am on.

it's enthusiast based,or else it's nothing.

your site rocks Jim

I'm a trs addictAND YOU CAN SHOVE YOUR THERAPY UP YOUR A$$ MEETINGS ARE FOR QUITTERS.:headbang::icon_cheers:

I'm always here, but sometimes I don't post a lot.

and when you do what you IMO carry's a lot of weight.

if there is people that dont know yet running this is not easy and Jim is ALWAYS working trying to make it better for us. i always get a cool feeling when hes working on the sight and i notice an mention things i see and i feel like my opinion matters.

without TRS i can say i would not be where i was today.

so i thank Jim and the staff and of course all the members who put up with my dumb junk, dumb questions, random ranting and the of course "ughhhh what do i do guys!!!"

same here...

must be doing something right for these media companys to notice the traffic this site is getting! :icon_cheers:

I found TRS when my old trans was on it's way out. I kept googling "Ranger transmission" looking for a good deal on a rebuilt replacement unit. All I kept getting was TRS, so I started looking through what Google was bringing back and decided I should sign up and ask some questions.

Glad I did. :yahoo::yahoo:

I work with a guy who actually has like 5 or 6 TRS accounts. He'll poke around the site for a bit every few months, sign up so he can look around in the tailgate, and then forget his information, so the next time he comes back he just makes a new account.

Being a newbie I realize my thoughts and opinion doesn't carry much weight....but, I would like to say a BIG THANKS to all those running/managing TRS and to all those answering my dumb a$$ questions. I know this site has helped me immensely and one of the things that keeps me on here ( daily) is the fact although I am far away from most, there is some connection. It's like having "buddies" all across the world who are there for each other with mainly Ranger issues, but I do read some of the ''social'' issues as well. I try to keep up with the "room mate saga" ...it's like a soap opera. And even tho we all don't agree on all the issues on how to maintain, fix or keep up our rangers...at least most have the balls to give their opinion and let the reader take what he/she will. Again...Thanx to the managers/mods and members!!!

PS: I've got tons of stupid questions yet...perhaps one day I can help answer some!
