The info in the link in the tech library didn't give much info about the OE dual horns, so I thought I would share what I could. That thread has been closed, or at least it's closed to me. I can't find info stating why, or if, certain models or years got dual horns. I believe it's kind of random. They buy and use so many before using something else, back and forth. I could be wrong. My Ford dealer was clueless as to why Ford did this as well.
These are my OE horns, in da piks below. Owned the truck since new, so I know they are OE. The truck is a 2001 XLT 2.5L, auto, std cab, step side bed, made in November 2000. Everything made after September gets added to the next year, not the exact year they were made, at least this is what my dealer told me. Your truck may have dual horns and you just can't see the second one. I thought mine was a single horn unit until I unbolted the bracket and moved the plastic air diverted flap. Then, I saw it hanging out under the air diverter flap, under the core support and behind the bumper. The only way I could get them out was drop them down, and behind the bumper on the passenger side, which is where they're located. They are not easy to get to or take out. They can partially be seen, until attempting to remove them. Then, it's all one hand and feeling around in the dark, sight skewed by one's arm. I took my horns out while replacing the headlights. They got to where they barely made a squeak like a sick duck, er something. Another thing to note is that some vehicles control the horn(s) on the ground side, through the security system, so doing a ground in place may cause issues with that system if you're upgrading your horn(s).
These horns are FIAMM AM80S dual horns with high and low tone. They're sold as a set. They're are currently being used by Ford. From my research, these horns are the same as those currently being used by Furd. They're sold as a set. Being mounted on a vehicle specific bracket is what sets their OE part numbers, not the horns themselves. Do be aware that there are a lot of fakes out there that look to be FIAMM horns. Watch for the appropriate information cast onto the plastic not stamped or engraved.
