Dual was know for being a cheap, poor quality brand for years... I assume they still are.

i agree. If you can afford about $20-$30 more, you open yourself up to quality choices like Pioneer and Sony> Dual has always been synonymous with "cheep"

Since early 1980's the Dual name was purchased by a Korean manufacturer, from that point on their product is generally cheap quality low priced items, but before the 80's & Dual went bankrupt they were a German manufacturer of quality turntables.
