opinions on family wheelers

Full size Bronco, had 92" wheel base and could have rear seat, so 4 or 5 passenger, needed lift of about 6" to fit 40", but a 2-door

Explorer had a 113" wheel base, 4-door and had 3rd rear seat option for more seating, 6+, 37"/38" would probably be the limit in tire height with 6/7" lift

Either had option of fuel injected 302 V8's but Bronco also had 351 V8 as option.

Obviously shorter wheelbase is the better choice for off road but if you can't get all the family in then..........longer is needed

an eb had a 92 in wheel base..the bronco 2 was 94 ish and the fullsize broncos are 104 plus.

fullsize broncos can fit 38-40 in tire just cutting and tubb-ing...35-38 in on explorers with just cutting and a tub job.

explorers and jeep xj along with the toyotas are real good platforms for a family rig in my eyes.

but i would have to say the ramcharger, bronco fullsize and chevy blazer fullsize are the top picks.

with the bronco later models with the 351 being the best to start with.

i know the rule breaker aerostar...actually have driven it before. hell of an evolution for a build.

those are not practical for family wheeling though....unless your family is the size of chads.

Here is my 94 Explorer....

4:88's with 35's. Lock rights front and rear. Still has the stock A4ld (with external cooler) and the stock 4.0 (she is getting tired though). I have had this thing in some pretty crazy places (I dont think FORD ever planned on these going where I take mine). I built it so I could load the famly up and take them with me on trail runs. After I added the snorkel I had it in water up to the windsheild (only did that once). Its been a pretty good ride. I built this one back in 07-08 to present.
