ok so i just killed my 2.9 litres of fury and my options are either a 460 which i already have or a 351W from a nearby junkyard, any opinions..Pros/cons of either swap. i already have a 3" body lift and a 6" suspension lift with plans of a sas at the same time of the engine swap. any suggestions would be great!!:headbang:

EFI 5.8L with a ZF 5spd

the 351 would be coming out of a bronco at a junkyard near my house, which i really dont want to go and pull it out at the moment because it is in a field covered in snow, the 460 i have is already pulled and in a nice warm garage. but i need it done ASAP because it is my daily driver.

i know a 460 is kind of overkill but hey, what the hell if i have it why not putit in i know it will be a lot of extra work, but when its done its gonna go through anything around where i wheel.

460+ daily driver = lots of gas.

im not too worried about gas milage, i only drive maybe 30 miles a day if that and it would be pretty cool.

4.0s are pretty nice but i want a v-8, my 2.9 already got the v-8 mileage so why not have the actual v-8.

i know but im willing to do whatever has to be done to fit a 460 in there, it can be done theres a ranger with a 460 that wheels around my house.

You have an '89 so the 4.0 would be quite easy.

Fuel lines, radiator, and an Explorer engine harness/ECU and you're set.

I did the swap in my '89 Ranger and I'm perfectly happy with the results. It also gets decent mileage turning 33s with 6" of lift.

If you change your mind and want to think about the 4.0, PM me and I'll send you the wiring diagram for the swap.

HERE is some quick info on V8 swaps. There's a little about the 460.

I want a blown big block too but its just not practical.

I cried about too when gas prices reached 4.00 in my area.
