One Tire pushed back

A worker came through my gate today and I noticed on his Ranger the Passenger tire was like 1-2" from the fender and the driver side sits normal, about 2-3" from the fender. (These are guesses) What would cause this and where should he start looking to repair it? He left me his number, I was supposed to ask this earlier and forgot.

well if his ranger is a 97 or earlier model id take off the wheel and inspect his axle beam and radius arm first. They could be bent or cracked somewhere. This is just my guess but if it realy is his axle beam and radius arm he must have hit something pretty darn hard to have done it. If he needs some sort of illustration to go by tell him to go to the tech library and look at all the articles with the ttb suspension in them they should have a few pics.

I never got the year truck, it looked like mine, a 93 maybe 94, TTB 4wd.

sounds like his radius arm is bent. The radius arm determines were the wheel sits in the fender. Maybe its the mount on the frame thats bent to. What you want is the wheel to be centered in the fender.

Could be just me, it looked that way. I know he said if he hits the brakes hard enough that the trucks pulls to the right and if lets off quick enough it wants to goto the left, but never pulls the steering wheel. To me it sounded like it was dog tracking, maybe it his R.Arm. I never heard nor seen anything like this before, so I am at a loss.

My B2 was like that when I first bought it, the radius arm bracket was bent on the passenger side, Had about the same mismatch between tires.
Looked fine till I noticed that some 'crud' was flaked off in a few spots.

Drilled out the rivets and swapped it, took maybe an hour all told.

Then the next night I hit some trails pretty hard and bent the replacement just as bad.

I would suggest the radius arm bushings also. But to be that bad off it would be making horrible noises when starting and stopping. That is, unless someone forgot to put the bushing in all together on one side?

I have yet to see him, when i do I'll see if he has figured it out. He claimed not to even notice it, but said it runs rough going down the road (pulls, shakes like a tire out of balance, and when he hits the brakes it wants to goto the right) Sounded to me and looked like the Radius arm itself or maybe the cross member had some serious problems. I found his number, I'll call him and find out if he found anything.

I got in an accident this past summer where I hit an acura from behind. It bent the frame a little, did some pass side damage too. I replaced the stock suspension at this point with a skyjacker class 2 4" kit. I too have the pass side wheel about 1 1/2"-1 3/4" back from where it should be....

The pass wheel hit the car though (but didn't damage the tire or rim!!), and I believe that the pass side axle beam is bent causing the misalignment. I don't have any drivability problems though, and it even aligned properly. It will be replaced when the weather is a little warmer, along with new pivot bushings and ball joints.

i actually had the exact same problem on my parts explorer, the beams themselves believe it or not arent that hard to bend, and often times will bucke before the radius arms will, this one was set INWARD, by about .5" ive heated it up, bent it back out and reinforce the beam, i should be good togo since i wont be doing any real rock crawling or shit with the ranger LOL
