Old ranger build

First post here. Will be getting a 97 Ranger 4.0, auto trans, single cab, 4X4 soon and need to build it up some. Looking to do lockers, lift, winch, etc. Any help/ advise would be appreciated.

This kind of depends on what you plan on doing with the truck once you modify it.

Yup, been looking hard at the amazing info on this site! I've got a Ram 2500 quad cab, long bed truck I use for work. I've installed LSD's front and rear and they work OK offroad. I even wired up a 12000lb winch, had a cradle built for it so I can run it in the rear or the front via 2" recievers. Problem is this truck is a bus while working in the woods of PA. Getting it stuck is an entire half day to extract it. On top of that it's too new for me to bash through trees with. So hence the need for a powerful, little, nimble truck. I need haul a min of 65 gallons of water (sometimes up to 125 gal) and digging tools through old, overgrown, steep, muddy, logging roads and stump filled, thick woods. I need decent ground clearence to be able to get to muddy sites to work. The truck I have my eye on already has a body lift. I just need to build this truck up reliably enough so it will get me there and back while hauling my heavy stuff day after day. So selectable lockers, winch, drivetrain/suspension beefed up...etc. etc. Kind of a wierd need compared to most but...what do ya'll think?

I just might to that. Gotta get the truck first. Any info U got just shoot it my way. I know little about the rangers, only what I've read, but I'm sure the learning curve is straight up for me.
