I want to take the EGR off my 94 with the 2.3 Lima. Bolts do not want to move and I don't want to twist them off. Have any of you all tried these delicate looking bolts. Also the exhaust pipe doesn't want to seem to move either. I hit all three with PB Blaster last night. Figured I would keep spraying it for a few days and see if it helped. Any suggestions other that that out there?

Keep soaking. Keep trying. Be persistent. You will probably need heat. I have never had trouble with the bolts for the valve itself. That egr exhaust tube, however, is more stubborn than Satan himself. I finally got one loose. Deformed the tube a little bit. Thought I was going to break my Wilton vise. Only fasteners I have experienced that were worse were the exhaust manifold bolts/studs on a 3.0l that I disassembled. Finally drilled those.

Run the engine up to temp for the valve bolts.

The tube nut is trickier. Ideally you would have access to an oxy-acetylene torch. I'm betting you don't or you wouldn't be having issues, you'd be done by now.

That being the case, get butane or propane and anti-sieze. Slap it all over the exposed threads of the nut, as much as you can, then heat the portion of the valve where the nut goes in. The heat will liquify the anti-sieze and draw it up in, making the nut easier to turn. A crow's foot wrench is also helpful, but they can be hard to get in larger sizes like that.

Thanks ericbphoto I will keep soaking.

adsm08 I really like that approach. Never thought of adding never seize. It would be like sweating a pipe. Thank You.

The antisieze trick is one I've never heard before. I'll have to remember that trick for the future.

Heat and lots of it. Ideally oxy/acetylene, but acetylene or Mapp gas by itself would work. Propane and butane would take a long time. Never tried the trick @adsm08 posted, will have to give it a go. I hate dealing with exhaust related components, it’s usually a lot of heat and cussing involved

50/50 mix of ATF and acetone in a spray bottle. Hit it every day for a few days and it should come right out.
