ol' sally

A few weeks ago I went up to Idaho for the weekend and got the chance to play out in the dirt. Nothing too crazy but I did get a few pictures.

Then last weekend I took the time to change my flywheel for the correct one and replaced the rear main at the same time. I also did the Dodge master cylinder swap and my brakes are definitely much more responsive now. I took my drive shaft in and had it balanced, getting rid of vibrations I had around 65 mph.

I did rear gears and an ox locker as well; still need to do the front soon.

I finally regeared the 44 and replaced ball joints. I also changed my steering a little to beef it up but don't have any after pics yet. Geared to 4.88's and added a yukon spartan locker.

I'll get pictures when I fix it but I ripped the axle side mount of my upper arm off wheeling last weekend. I'm going to change it up a bit when I re do the mount. Parts should be here tomorrow.

Its been a while since I posted. I've had some front end noise which I thought was my trac bar because I used heim joints when I built it over a year ago. They had developed some play in them so I decided to go with bushings instead. I couldn't find a bushing that used a 3/4" bolt and was thin enough to fit where the heims were so instead I bought some ballistic fab bushings and modified them to work. I cut them down so they were about 1.75" across.

Then I cut down the heims in order to utilize the threaded part.

Then welded that to the bushing housing.

You can also kind of see that I clam-shelled my dana 44 to make it stronger. I bought some DOM that was a 1/2" thick and with an ID the same as the OD of the axle, cut it down the center and welded it to the axle.

My next project is a front bumper; I have been collecting metal for one for a while.

I started on my bumper, it's kind of slow goings just working on it during lunch and a little after work. I have the stinger bent but haven't added it yet. I hope to get it done soon. It also has a front hitch and will have a spot for a winch.

Added a stinger

My bumper is all welded up now, just need to clean it up and paint it.

that bumper looks good, you adding some type of skid plate with that or what's the game plan?

Eventually I'll add a skid plate to the front. I think next I'm going to build a traction bar though. Then do skid plates in the front and under the tranny/transfer case.

Did some surface prep before painting.

I started work on a winch plate. I added the main section a few days ago hence the rust.

I forgot to get a picture of the finished product but I will later.

Took some pictures.
