Do i need a dual sump oil pan for a 302 in an 89 ranger 2.9 extended cab 2wd with a 3" body lift or can i use the original 302 unit...

and, does anybody know if there's a power steering pump bracket that will accomodate the original ranger pump but bolt up to a 302?

Yes you need the dual sump pan. I have heard of someone years ago using a rear sump pan, but I think they had to do some mods on it. Not sure of the bracket, but I think most of the pumps were the same(don't quote me on that though). Go to the JY and get the brackets(you will need them anyways) and see if they match up.

:stop: :badidea: I tried a rear sump. Installed the engine with it. Insufficient clearance -- didn't work!:annoyed:
I tried it only because it came off of my donor. And, I'm cheap that way.
People tried to tell me -- I had to see for myself.:idiot:
I installed a dual sump off of a Crown Vic, along with the oil pump and pickup tube. ;brownbag;
Now, its your turn. Are ya' gonna listen?

My accessory drive (FEAD) came off of a '90 Lincoln MK VII. No problems with PS Pump, except for the direction that the return nipple came off of the integral reservoir.

ok thanks guys.

so how cheap do you think i can pick up a dual sump job for?

I went to Pick-N-Pull. $40 got me the pan, the pickup, and some other odds and ends.
the pump I bought new. I wouldn't even recommend a junkyard oil pump.

so what all had a dual sump pan?

fox body - '79 to '93
crown vic - ?

(around here, from an auto parts store), a new fox body pan is around $75, pickup tube is around $20
