Ford had a TBS for oil pan leaks in 89/92 Ranger 2.3L. The TSB said to replace the oil pan with a updated pan that used a better gasket design. It was also common for the oil pick up screen to become clogged from the oil pan gasket material falling apart. Two years ago when I rebuilt the engine in my Ranger. I couldn't find a updated oil pan with the 1993 part number given in the TSB. So I just used the old design pan and gasket. Two years latter and my oil pan is starting to leak. I've found the updated oil pan that uses the updated 93/97 gasket. I plan to do a trans swap and I'm hoping the oil pan will come out the back with the transmission and flywheel removed. Has any one removed a 89/94 Ranger 2wd 2.3L Oil pan this way ? It would just be much less work if I could do the pan swap by removing the trans and flywheel when I do my transmission swap. I also found that the reason that I couldn't find the updated oil pan was because I was using the Ford part number that Ford put on the part box. When I found the engineering number that's cast into the part is a 1992 part number for the updated pan. I was able to find a good used updated pan on ebay.
