Oil Cap question

Hey crew,

I am looking at an aluminum oil cap for a V6 mustang. I know that is the SOHC 4.0, so I am wondering if anyone knows if the oil cap will fit my OHV 4.0.

If it is a screw on oil cap it will. I have a Mobil 1 oil cap off of a Cobra

yeah i think all the caps have a standard size and threads

Nope the S197 Mustangs were 4.0's up until 2011 and they are now 3.7's

So it'll work alright on my OHV 4.0 then?

A lot of Ford oil caps can be swapped around.

I thought all the oil caps were different but I can't tell. Between the cam-lock style and the thread style it's weird. But most likely the threads would be the same anyways.

i think all thread style ones have the same size.
atleast thats what it looks like on Fords

Not to start an oil debate...but the spec for 96-99 Cobras is 5w30 and in 2001 the spec changed to 5w20. I don't have the service manual for any newer Cobras so I couldn't tell you what it would be on a supercharged Cobra (03-04). Maybe they went to a higher viscosity oil for the supercharged engines?

Absolutely nothing, it's just plastic. And crap

for $10 the Mustang Cap looked like a nice piece of engine dress up. Also the machining style kind of matched the outer edge of my rims.
