If you are going to be producing these i would like to be on the list for a set of rear ones please

i dont like the front ones, you need to make it flowout not just pop out, its ugly the way it is
or it looks like a fender flair

Likely 16 oz. chopped strand mat. total of 3 layers (about 3/16 total thickness). Low shrink Polyester resin.
poly and mat are the best bang for your buck, and up in the cold north the poly will wet out easier.i've noticed the mat likes to bleed down more at the top but a quick touch of the heat gun can gel it up(not too much heat though,) and remove bubbles.and you won't get the cloth pattern coming through the part after its done and painted like woven glass does.

you might get a little light weight woven glass for the body lines if the mat won't stay in and bridges the gaps.or chop up some of the glass and make a slurry to wipe in the groove

what are you using to fill the foam and act as a release?this may sound dumb but clear packing tape is a great cheap mold release. you'll need to sand out the tape lines in the mold later, but you save the work of finding something that will fill the foam without eating it up(poly resin and bondo eat a lot of types of foam).

modeling clay WITHOUT sulfur(sulfur stops the cure in some resins) works to fill in minor imperfections on the plug too before pulling a mold.

you'll make it work if you take your time and leave when you get flustered instead of taking a hammer to it:D.
i'll be making the shelby clone parts for my 65 stang, the ranger may just get used up and recycled instead of paint and bodywork.its funner that way.

Copykat, you are am ambitions, and skilled fellow. Props to you.

How tough are these things going to be?
When you/fenders get coxy with a tree what will they act like? I'm guessing they are not as tough as metal, but perhaps more resilient?

I may put some tubework behind just to give it some extra support. So that if a tree desides it likes the flares and wants to try to keep one the tube should take a brunt of the force, so that the fibreglass doesn't crush in on itself.
Here is another pic to keep the interest tickled.

they will crack and or shatter when banged on stuff depending on how stiff he makes them.just the shape will make them pretty stiff.
but the nice thing is he can repair them almost into infinity by feathering out the cracks and doing more layups.there are toughening agents you can buy to make it more crack resistant but may or may not be worth the cost.
a tube wheel opening reinforcement would definately cut down on the damage and keep the whole flare from getting ripped off:icon_surprised:

Here just for your rick.

I've been looking around for prices and here is what I have come up with. a guy at work helped me figure out the resin amounts.

We figure it will be about 120 cubic feet of resin per fender. based on a 70% cloth amount to 30% resin. This works out to about .52 gal of resin. 1 gal resin is $45. so I'd need atleast 2.

The 1.5 oz chop strand mat is 50" wide and they sell by the meter (50") and it's $7.50 per meter. so even for 3 layers of glass I would need atleast 12 panels 50x50 (Guestimate)

Catylist is $8 for an 8oz bottle.

So if you add it all up about $90 for resin and about $90 for mat, and thow in $20 for 16 OZ of catylist. I'm looking at about $220 total (with taxes) for materials.

So I get nearly 4 fenders for the price of one. ($150 plus $75 shipping per fender)
