Oh crap oil psi


The truck was low on oil, and the "check oil" lamp was lit. Most newer engines have a oil level senser, the '94 Explorer we have at work has one along with a pressure gauge.

Find your leak, don't worry about the senser because it was working.

i agree, you did say it was low on oil and it doesnt usually use oil, so it had to go somewhere. my 94 used to have a low oil light but the aftermarket oil pans i had ordered for it either didnt have provisions for the level sensor or on the ones that did, they couldnt get the rear seal surface to contour the seal without excessive puckering of the metal, so i just snipped the sensor off, capped the wire, and tucked it back into the harness. if you cant visibly see a puddle of oil under the truck you may want to look into geting a bottle of tracer-line oil dye. you pour it into the oil and it dyes it orange, then once the sun goes down you go out with a black light and UV glasses (yellow saftey glasses work too) and look for the very obvious glowing orange dye.
